I'll tell ya Snuppy...
I am not sure that the word "offend" fits, but I do not agree 100% with the commandment that says "honor your mother and your father". And to be honest, I don't think my God requires that of me. My father suxually abused me since as long as I can remember until I was 13 or 14. There is no honor in that. I honor my life and I honor my fortitude to live through that. I honor my Creator who helped me and I honor my Mother. I even forgive my father and am able to understand that he is a sick person, but I do not honor him.
Would like to hear your response to that, Snup!
Also, was the parade in LA really cancelled - or did they just rename it the holiday parade, so that people other than Christians could partake in it?
By the way, if you want to be in a parade, I'll bet the gay people will allow you to walk with them.

While the 10 don't offend, I understand that they were a covenant between God adn the Israelites. Deut 5:1-5
Heb 8:7 the new makes the old obselete
Heb 8:13 the death of the testator puts the new in
force.
We are under the new since Christ's sacrifice. Jesus and Paul tried to get across the letter vs spirit idea. You must obey, but your heart must also be right in a way that under the old wasn't necessarily required. Murder is wrong, but so is hate. Adultery is wrong, but so is lust. You get the idea.
Whether or not the 10 or any part of scripture is platered in courtrooms or wherever has no bearing whatever on my faith. I am a believer, but I am not all into those campaigns to put up plaques and statues with the 10 commandments on them.
The country wasn't founded on the 10 commandments, btw.

I didn't know that they had those () by each of the commandments? did you go peek in the arc of the covenant or something?
The bible never says when the sabbath day is but we still have to keep it holy. And yes calenders have changed since then
"Not a single entity can survive when it abandons the principals on which it was founded"
Yeah mean like freedom of religion and separation of church and state that america was founded on?

I can't believe it, but I gotta quote Mira Sorvino on this one. (I know! The actress!!)
As she so wisely stated...."And slavery. Why isn't that one of the 10 commandments? You wanna sit here and tell me that coveting is a bigger sin that OWNING a human being?"
And for the record, yes, many neighboring tribes to Israel at the time of the 10 commandments did NOT own slaves. Many cultures predating Moses did not own slaves.

Dump the first four, as they are anti-American and go against the first ammendment and religious freedoms.
Dump the last one, because it's ridiculous.
Don't kill, steal, lie, or bang some other dude's wife. I'm cool with that, but it's not as if that is original to the Bible or absent from cultures who had no access to the Bible.
Not everyone thinks your ten commandments are all that special. In fact, they're pretty weak.

Do you really require outward religious validation from the government to cement your own beliefs? If you believe the ten commandments in your heart, does it matter if they are some stone in front of a courthouse?

None of it offends me. I find it to be one of the simplest and grandest things ever written.
I'm thinking it offends some Christians based on the way they live and speak.

Only the first four offend me, as they have nothing to do with living peacfully among humans, and instead pertain to an egomaniacal God who demands worship over all else.
Why do the TEn Commandments matter anymore anyway? Didnt Jesus do away with those laws?

Let's see, no other god before me, idol worship, taking the name of the lord in vain, keeping the Sabbath holy, coveting (thoughtcrime, anyone?).
That leaves murder, theft, lying, and adultery that are fine as general life guidelines for the masses.

"Honor thy Mother and father" really offends me. I love my parents just fine thank you, but what if a child is beaten and abused by both parents for 15 years, you still have to honor them?
I don't buy that BS.
