glycerine is a wonderful humectant--which will attract moisture to the skin. ALL SOAP is made with lye (aka sodium hydroxide or potassium hydroxide)-a "no lye" soap is a soap which is superfatted in which no active lye is still present after the saponification process is complete. (and all soap can contain no active lye or it would burn your skin).

Glycerine soap is a good choice--although still technically a detergent. The best choice is a natural handmade soap because they don't contain the additives that strip your skin of it's natural oils like store "soaps" do and retain all their natural gylcerin. An added benefit--many, many more choices of colors and scents.

Some glycerin soaps have lye which can dry out your skin.

However if it's natural based just with fruit oils or have vitamins it's fine.

Just read the indregants and you should be fine.

I've heard that too, but I'm not sure if it's true or not. People are always saying that glycerin soap is bad for you, but I honestly don't know.
