The files are compressed.... Well let me explain this further...

let's say you have this binary sequence....

100000000111111000001 -> this takes 21 spaces
but if we compress it...

1[8,0][6,1][5,0]1 ->this takes less than 21 spaces!


zipping basically compresses the redundant data in the files we zip! :) hope this helps...

the files are compressed, the whitespace inside the files is deleted, or an algorhythm is created to manipulate the data so that is takes less space.

i only use zip to turn multiple folders into a single one to send to friends. loke if ur total data was 15mb. zip would make it like 14 lol

with my experience i would say nothing happens it doesn't reduce the size of files at all my opinion use winrar reduces the file size 15%-20%

Just that...they are compressed until unzipped.
