I am doing my coursework is there any way that the wriiting i do from lessons can be scanned and added to a word document?

If you mean converting your hand-written notes to wordprocessing text, no. You'll need to knuckle down & type it, I'm afraid.

Yes, if typed. AND your scanner includes Optical Character Recognition (OCR) Software.

im pretty sure. you can use a scaner to scan it on screen, clic ,drag and highlight it then Left click and COPY it. then open your word doc and click where you want it (mid paragraph or whatever) left click and select Paste it there. you can move the text again using he same technique. or move it to other locations like my space or whatever. not sure if you can do it with pics. they will prob have to be certain file types for it to work on word

It is possible if you use OCR software. You may have got some free with your scanner, if you didn't, you could try this free version:
