Hi, I was wondering if anyone could offer a bit of advice, I would ask friends but no one else in our circle of friends have children yet. The thing is this..... I work for an educational establishment and get term time holidays. Normally I would get a job through the summer to top up my wages. As I am 29 weeks pregnant, I didnt think anyone would employ me , although I understand that it would be classed as discrimination (but we all know companies can get through this one way or another). However, I am pleasantly pleased to say that a call centre has offered me a job.... As the training will be 4 weeks , it means that I will only be able to do that before going off on the 13th of August (when my mat leave starts at other employer). I was wondering if, as my new job will only be approx 16 hrs or less per week, is there a minimum that can be worked whilst on mat leave? I am not being greedy, please dont think this, I am located in Scotland.

In UK, 'less than 16 hours' is usually taken as 'not working' for all sorts of benefits etc.

However Scottish law likely differs .... ask your HR Dept. / Union Rep. = I expect they will know (or can find out).

(I have a friend who wanted to teach Evening Classes at the local college whilst on maternity leave. HR Dept, said that would be OK, so long as she was doing 16 hrs. or less)
