I supported the war at first, when it was to get Saddam out of power, and the "false pretenses" that was the primary cause. Those false pretenses are the WMD (Weapons of Mass Destruction) -- which non were found.

I do NOT support the war now because it is primarily a war for oil and gas (just look how much higher the gas prices are now than when 9-11 hit). The only thing this war has done was bring back over 3,500 of our men and women home in body bags, produced over 75% of the troops have one form of battlefield stress or psycholocial disorder -- this is as minor as a nervous twitch to full scale insanity.

I have always been a supporter of our troops and men in uniform, but I do not always have to support the wars that they fight in, esp. if they are unjust.

Hey Steph... At first I supported it because I expected to find weapons of mass destruction and I believed that a regime change was a noble cause. However because of the mismanagement of the war by the civilian leadership, the lack of preperation and the number of mistakes made we have gotten away from our original mission. And in doing so we have gotten ourselves caught up in an unwinnable situation where our continued presence is doing as much harm as good. At this point I now support the need for a clear cut exit strategy with troop reductions on a set timetable. This is not a cut and run strategy, but an organzied end to our active military involvement in Iraq. However, my confidence in our current leadership to do that is very low... so even though a life long Republican and staunch supporter of the military, I find my self on the side of the fence demanding a timetable for our exit from Iraq.

I do not support an aggressive act on a sovereign country based on lies. Iraq had nothing to do with 9/11 The only reason we are over there is for Oil. Look into the PNAC Partnership for a New American Century. This was a Neo Con think tank who in the early 90's wrote out exactly what we are doing in the middle east right now. Find out who the members are.

I did not support the invasion of Iraq because there were bigger fish to fry, like addressing the counties from which those that assaulted us on 9/11 were from. also, Saddam was cooperating with the UN in the weeks prior to that invasion but GWB brushed that off as some type of lie or ploy.
Attacking Iraq was about as intelligent as inditing the copper mine that supplied the metal to make the brass that became the casing of the bullets that serial killer used rather than putting the serial killer on trial.

Yes I do.
Here are my reasons.
1 Been there, done that, bought the tee shirt.
2 As an army soldier I have a slightly better view of what we are accomplishing.
3 Even though the war may have been started for the wrong reasons, its being fought for the right ones.

I support it because I supported the regime change. Any time you have a change at the top there is a smoothing out period. This has been made more difficult by opportunist terrorist trying to get their foothold in the country and create their own state. We need to stay and ensure that this country has the chance that it deserves. This will be good for the safety and security of the middle east and for the rest of the world.

-If we wanted to hunt terrorists, we would have targeted Iran or Syria
-If we wanted to stop the threat of WMDs, we would have targeted North Korea
-If we wanted Oil, we would have targeted Venezuela or Saudi Arabia
-If we wanted to stop human rights violations, we would have targeted Africa.

There is no logical reason for this war. It is an exercise in military adventurism, plain and simple. It was a demonstration by our government to our people that thye can use force of arms to create peace and prosperity. And just look at all the peace and prosperity that we have brought to the Iraqis. Police States can not keep peace, police states just inflame tempers. Thankfully, America is not quite ready for a police state, no matter how much the politicians tell us its for our own good.

What war in Iraq? It takes an act of Congress to declare war and Congress has yet to declare war. What they have there is a civil dispute and we are helping keep the innocent people of Iraq.

I do not support the president or his advisers on the decision to go to war, they all lied, and they don't care if you know.

but i do support the troops that signed on for an education, but getting eradication instead. Most of these guys come from a long line of family members that served, fought, and died or this country. and feel it is now their duty to protect their fellow soldiers, airmen, marine, squid. they aren't fighting for freedom now.....they are fighting to stay alive during their tour, and to keep their buddy alive. period.
