then you are taking the long way round. Pilots are Officers. go to college, take ROTC while in college, and contract for Aviation in your third year. otherwise, you run the VERY real risk of running out of time. ythe age cut off is 28 for Aviation, and getting a 4 year degree while on Active Duty is difficult at best.

To be a naval pilot you have to be officer first of all
exceptional physical and mental abilities
do well on the various tests you will have to take
pass the pre-flight physical (I didn't)
excellent reflexes
quick thinker able to make the proper decisions under sometimes very hazardous conditions
be will to land a high speed aircraft on the moving flight deck of an aircraft carrier at night
have a lot of intestinal fortitude
be willing to put with an enlisted Marine telling you what to do
Check out the movie "An Officer and a Gentleman" watch it carefully and watch it more than once to get an idea what you might have to go through in officer training. Forget "Top Gun."

Go to a 4 year university, major in and graduate at the top of your class with a degree in engineering or physics. Then apply for OCS. If they select you and you meet all requirements you will go to OCS and then flight school. If you pass ALL of that then you may become a Navy pilot. Going enlisted first you will have an extra long trip to getting to what you want.

You have to come from the Naval Officer corps. This can be done while in service but is not that easy and takes considerable time. You MUST have at least an undergraduate degree, 4 years in the civilian world, more like 6 if you do it while in service. Your physical condition needs to be almost perfect including eye sight. You are looking at probably the most difficult MOS in all the US Armed services to get into. Even the chopper jocks in the Navy are pretty much an elite group. Good Luck.

you are already on the wrong path then. Don't get me wrong- its admirable that you are enlisting. but to fly you either need to 1) Attend Annapolis for college, or 2) apply to the Naval equivalent of Officer Training School (OTS/OCS). Navy ROTC works too. not sure if any career fields are better than others in the Navy, but you need to be an officer. get any flight time you can in the private sector. once you are AD, it will be difficult to come by, especially if you are deployed.
Good luck, and God speed.

You should have asked the recruiter that when you enlisted but there's still time to find out. I do know that one has to have perfect vision to be a pilot. My sons were in the Navy & one son wanted so badly to fly but his vision wasn't perfect because of "lazy eye" he had as a child & it never corrected itself, even with glasses. He served aboard a nuclear sub instead & my other son served aboard an aircraft carrier. I wish you all the very best!!!!
