I have so many friends and relatives who have Bose speaker system, but I am afraid I am not impressed with the sound quality and frequency distribution of Bose. Bose never show their frequency range because if you actually measure them, you will find out that it does not go real low and it is missing some midrange tones. Their Accoustimass Bass module, goes to mid range frequencies that you can actually hear dialog from it, when it is suppose to only play low frequencies. Having said that, the Definitive Technology Pro Cinema 1000 has gotten very good reviews and Product of the year awards from perfect vision. I would suggest that you visit a local place that carries Definitive Technology so yo can listen to it, of if you have to order it through the mail, that they allow returns if you do not like the system.
This is a site that measured frequency and detailed review of Bose system:

The Def Tech is the way to go for sound quality, no question. Not a big fan of bose sound, but they do not take up any room, which is nice too. SVS is that company that sells online at audioreview.com right? I wouldnt mess with that. The Def Tech is going to sound real nice, they look real nice, and any store that sells a brand like Def Tech will be sure to take care of you.

Def Tech makes good speakers, but skip Best Buy and head to a higher end audio store. You will find allot of brands to comparable to Def Tech and in the same price range. Make sure you bring some of your favorite Cd's to audition. Dont buy the first set of speaker you hear, check out several brands.

Hi.What type of amplifier are you going to use with the speakers. If the amplifier is only average then you will not get the best out of your speakers. The quality of the source or front end of your system (CD player DVD/CD player Tuner Phono), the quality of the interconnects from your front end to your amplifier and the quality of the speaker cable from your amplifier to your speakers will determine how good your speakers will sound. That is how the signal travels.Don't buy expensive speakers if the rest of your system is not up to par. Start at the front end first.
