HDTV is HDTV wether FIOS, CABLE, Satilite it is all the same....signal
regular tv is usually 480 DPI (dots per inch)
Now there are 2 HD resolutions currently out there
720 and 1080 DPI.
Now what gets displayed depends on the broadcasting company (abc.nbc,fox. etc..) so FIOS only broadcasts what it gets from those companies...it all is the same no matter who re-broadcasts it (fios, cable, satilite)
What plays into FIOS is that the signal is coming over fiberoptic cable and gets no interferrence, like the copper wire (cable), and weather (satilite). so it is less likely to have signal loss through FIOS.
HDTV also depends on your TV, IF the broadcast company sends out a 1080 signal and your tv only supports 720...well you'll only see the picture in 720...
so I'm not sure what math the other folks are using.
Well there are other "terms" not mentioned but to keep it simple this is a good rule of thumb...
anywho hope this helps
