If you already have a VCR with audio/video output jacks, all you need to add on is a DVD recorder. These are in the $100 range now. Connect the outputs of the VCR to the inputs of the DVD recorder. Press play on the VCR and record on the DVD recorder. Very simple.

you need a combo machine made to burn DVD's, an ordinary vcr/dvd combo won't burn the discs.

Go to a local home electronics store and ask what they have, expect to spend a few hundred dollars. I recommend Best Buy because I've found the sales people are pretty knowledgeable and they don't get commissions so they aren't pushy.

It'll be much cheaper and better to do it WITH the computer. ~
However VHS quality is so lousy, why even waste your time? Look for the movies on DVD. You'll be much happier.
