I want to go to Wicked and Spamalot. These are both very popular shows. I can reserve tickets now for around 150. But I hear about getting great deals on tickets at Times Square the day of the show.

I probably should just buy them... Less hassle.

Any Advice or Tips?

It's true that you can get half-priced tickets in Times Square at the TKTS booth. However, you can never get tickets to sell-out shows like Spamalot and Wicked (is that still playing?) at the TKTS booth. (People are willing to pay full price so why should the producers let them go for half off?)

My advice is since you know when you're going to be here, buy tickets for a specific night and you won't be disappointed. What's more, you don't have to pay $150 unless you're sitting in the orchestra. Call the box office directly and get less expensive seats in the balcony where you can see the show just fine, and save some of that money you would have spent for dinner or drinks.

Spamalot is playing at the Shubert Theater
Wicked is playing at the Gershwin Theater

Wicked and Spamalot aren't very popular anymore (except with the tourists), you shouldn't have problems getting tickets. However, if you want good seats you may want to purchase them ahead.

If you were planning to see something more current and popular (say Frost Nixon), I would suggest you get tickets ASAP.

Buy them now. The day-of tickets are not always for the shows you want to see, and sometimes they're crappy seats.

buying day-of-the-show can be cheap... but very unpredicatable. You may get great offers - for every show except the ones you want to see. It's luck of the draw.

If you're keen on specific shows, you're better off ponying up early.

go ahead and buy them now because the people who like give you "great deals" are scammers and you'll probably like pay alot for really bad seats or fake tickets and that would like totally like suck so get them like really soon like good luck
