losing temporary /milk /baby teeth by 5 1/2 yrs old is normal, expect temporary teeth falling off till he reaches 11 yrs old.

if the permanent tooth that erupts are only 1-2mm away form the temporary teeth, it is still negligible, however if it more than that, i suggest you see a dentist for proper diagnosis.

Kids lose their baby teeth proportionally to when the got them. My kids both started late (10 - 101/2 months) for their first teeth. Therefore, they started losing them late. If your son got his baby teeth early, then he could be losing them early. Also, they tend to lose the bottom middle first since these are usually the first to come in. If he's over 5 he should have already seen a dentist; if not, make an appointment and ask.

Most children will lose their first tooth around age 5-6. However, anywhere between 4 and 7 is possible.
