I can give you my personal opinion. When bad things happen we do not blame it on God. At least most of us dont. Biblically speaking God does not wish anything bad upon us and if something bad happens it is usually a consequence of things we have done before. For example my grandpa has Diabetes because he used to drink a lot. It was a consequence. Thus why the Bible talks about wine being like a snake. And when we do something bad its because we are sorry and we know we needs someone bigger and more powerful than ourselves to get us out of the mess we got ourselves into. Plus we want redemption and we want to imrpove.

This in no way means were perfect or that we will ever be perfect because only Jesus is perfect. We will continue to make mistakes and many will continue to grow and learn from them. In my personal experience mistakes and bad things that happen in my life simply bring me closer to God. He is God the Father so I run to him as I would to my dad because you can do that. God is a personal God not the distant God that many have painted him to be.

Fact is we all know something is missing in our lives its a void that only God can fill. I hope this answers your question and have a blessed day.

Christian's turn to thier faith because it gives us hope. i am living proof that if you try to emulate the qualities of God like love, patience, and forgiveness you will live a better, more fulfilling life.

adam and eve are real. how do you think men and women were created??? if you believe in the evolution theory in the aspect that we come from apes and we have evolved...then why is it that we dont see apes evolving now? why are there not apes walking around that stand up straight and going bald? its because we dont come from apes!!!! God made us from dust and we ultimately return to dust. Adam and Eve were the first humans. God is love!!!!!!

Some people have to be smacked around before they can develop even the vaguest kind of humility.

Most people who denigh God are arogant and want to put themselves in the God role. When they get knocked down a few times they realize that they are not in control.

I think it's important to first understand what happens when people go through bad experiences or when people do bad things before understanding why people then turn to Christianity.

Simply said, when people go through bad experiences -- whether it's something as personal as ending a close relationship or something more far-reaching like the recent and unfortunate Virginia Tech incident -- they experience a host of unpleasant feelings: shame, guilt, emotional pain, torment, etc. Many people feel trapped in those feelings and have fear about sharing them with others. However, psychological research shows that disclosure, the sharing of information with another person, helps many people move from feeling the effects of negative events to getting beyond those effects and getting on with life. Prayer provides disclosure for people who experience negative events in their lives with a being they believe to be in control over their lives. As a result, disclosure begins to help people move beyond where they once were and onto a new chapter in life through the help of a supernatural being. I can testify to this because it happened to me.

For those that do bad things, there's that small voice of what seems to be our conscience, telling us that we've messed up. When we know in our heart that we've made mistakes and need to be spared of the consequences we deserve for those mistakes, we may try to plead with those who control the consequences so that we might avoid them. Such is likely the case for those who do bad things and realize that they don't want to face the consequences of their actions. By praying for forgiveness, those who have done bad things may experience a sense of catharsis, or purging and cleansing, and be able to move towards a better direction in life.

What's unique about all this is that it's all written in the Bible. Jesus spoke these wise words in His famous Sermon on the Mount: "Blessed are the poor in spirit, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven" (Matthew 5:3, NIV). This statement applies to both those who have had bad experiences and those who have done something bad.

-- Those Experiencing Negative Events --
Sometimes, we don't recognize how much we have until it's been taken away from us. And when it is taken away, we recognize how poor we are without what we've lost. We become poor in spirit, feeling all those negative feelings. But when we lack spirit, there's a perfect opportunity for us to become full again. That fulfillment can come through a relationship with God through Jesus Christ. In John 6:35, Jesus says this of Himself: "I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty." If we want to be filled forever, not lacking anything, then we need a relationship with God through Christ.

-- Those Who Have Done Something Bad --
Just about everyone has heard of the Ten Commandments, but not everyone knows that they've broken the commandments. The commandments were given not only as laws, but also to make mankind aware of right and wrong (Romans 7:7: "Indeed I would not have known what sin was except through the law."). Living righteously -- that is, living by the law -- keeps us at ease, allowing us to live without fear of consequences for our actions. But for sinners, those that break the law, there is fear of consequences. However, God is a God of grace, and He provides a way out for those who have broken His laws: "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9).

God has made a way for all to know Him, both those in pain and those who have caused pain in the lives of others. If we believe in our hearts that God gave His one and only Son, Jesus Christ, as a sacrifice for all the wrong we've done in our lives, then we can have a relationship with the one and only true God (John 17:3). But those who choose not to believe in their hearts will be separated from God (Matthew 7:23).
