I believe some of them are afraid to believe anything. I would rather believe than take a chance if I were them.
Like some don't want to hear any mention of God. For instance, schools. Some public schools are now offering a class that teaches the Bible. One atheist they interviewed about this said that his only worry about it is that some students might convert. Wow, that sure is a worry, the whole world might fall apart if someone converts. What does the atheist have to worry about if someone that has their own rights to believe in God if they want to. Really, how can a young person decide what they want to believe unless they actually learn something about the Bible. Not like believing in God is going to hurt anyone. Even if the atheist was right. Which they are not.

I was raised Catholic, but do not practice. However, I lead a pretty straight and narrow life. I have an open my mind and feel everyone has a right to worship or not worship as they please. Therefore I have no view , nor do I judge an athiest for non belief in god. Christians, are suppose to be "forgiving" so therefore, they too should respect the athiest.

I'm glad to see that the majority of the answers show acceptance and tolerance rather than blind ignorance. I don't follow any religious or spiritual practices, and have usually endured the wrath of religious people when they find this out about me. I feel that we are all entitled to our beliefs and values and should be spared from having opinions forced upon us.

Dear me. Some people just can't read. You asked for opinions on AtheISM and people reply about AtheISTS.

I find Atheism to be a natural consequence. It had to happen.

Some people get chased away from a religion due to fanatics from within. Sometimes it's poor formation (that is religious education.

Some people get very wrapped up in themselves. Their ego doesn't allow for them to NOT be in control. So they must as a result DENY God's existance in order to firmly believe that they are in control.

We all know control is a myth. No one is in control. It's only when we learn to go with the flow that we can be happy.

Then too there are those who are incapable of experiencing God. Science has shown this is a fact. Their brains are not wired the same as those of us who hear the voice of God. Many of them are atheists. Many of them wander from faith to faith - searching.

So too, I think Atheism serves God in that it can and often does encourage Christians to learn more abou their faith. I get my knickers in a twist when Christians don't know how to answer a question so they reply with something rude or snotty.

It's FAR better to go and research the question or to be Christlike and just let it go.

Atheism is just another religion. They worship themselves, science and their intellect (though many lack it, they falsely promote themselves as highly intellectual beings). They do not consider sound argument or reason, but retaliate with personal insults and blasphemies. The falsely say they are tolerant when all their actions show otherwise and a real conversation with one of these people cannot be achieved. You will get no where but insults from such individuals and R &S is filled with them. I highly recommend not answering their inane and highly condesending questions. "Don't through your pearls to swine" comes to mind.

I suppose that I would say that atheism is not that much different than any other kind of disbelief in God. I am just blessed that God opened my eyes to see the truth. We need to pray more for atheists and for others. Instead of forgetting about them or arguing with them. Maybe we should love them as Christ's love them and pray for their eyes to be opened too.

does it really matter, let people believe what they feel is right. obviously christian's view would be against atheism, and vice versa. and seeing all the answers here, it looks like the christians are the ones that are angry and unhappy. but yet they keep saying that the athiests are. thats kinda strange??

Its the funniest thing I've heard of. Especially since they have to acknowledge many, many, aspects of religion in order to try and oppose it. In fact, many atheists know more about the bible than a lot of Christians.

Its one thing to believe in nothing...but theres something more to Athiest. Like if I didn't believe in apples I wouldn't be angry at people for believing in them. I wouldn't follow them around and say 'why are you believing in apples'

So they're not content in believing in nothing, maybe believing in nothing makes you board, so you follow people who believe in something for entertainment.

Love them anyway.

I can't understand how people can believe that there's no God. How can one view the wonderful sights of creation and not wonder who made it? God is everwhere, how can people like them not see Him?

I view them as people who might have had some tough times and feel that God has failed them. Now they choose to believe that He doesn't exist.
