Total lack of evidence for a God or gods motivates my lack of belief. An honest, critical reading of the Bible, philosophical, and religious texts reinforced it.

Facts motivate my non-belief.

The majority of the religions of the world have been proven to be false. Either you know the facts about this, or you don't.

Atheists aren't people that are out to "get" religion. They are simply people that have studied the facts.

Once you've done the research, non-belief is the only option.

But FYI... many people in this world dont WANT to do the research. They would rather maintain their ignorance than lose their god.

I don't see a presence of God. I've seen religion be proven to be wrong on many issues, so it's hard for me to believe there's a god in the religious sense. As far as a Creator that is not described by any religion, there may be a possibility, but for me the concept of God dies with religion, so I'm an atheist.

I believe that my own actions and decisions determine how successful I am in life. I take responsibility for my own successes and failures. I don't need to believe that an all mighty deity controls my fate. I make my own fate.

I also don't see a reason in wasting time while I'm alive, worrying about my death or a fairy tale afterlife. I don't fear death. It is just the end of the cycle. I'd rather focus my attention upon living and attaining happiness for myself and those I love.

Why is it so hard to believe that everybody doesn't believe in the same things as you?

What motivates your beliefs? How you were raised?

The fact that the bible is so full of inconsistencies and contradictions.

The knowledge that all gods have been created by humans as far back as we have records. They were used by primitive people to explain away things they did not understand.

Like the sun and moon, and particle physics.

The fact that so many still believe these primitive explanations, is tragically laughable.

You can't see the wind, but you can see the effects of the wind. The effects of God are everywhere. A relationship with God is based on faith; if everyone could physically see Him, then that faith would mean nothing.

We just believe that there is no God. Unlike Religious people we do not need to justify our beliefs.
