"THEY" told u wrong & if so how do u think U & I lived? WE, survived on cows milk for eons & milk is sustenance.
How can U or THEY compare milk & smoke??? Milk dont hurt your lungs is that clear or U have dont an idea what smoke & milk is about? In fact cow hearders have been known to be IMMUNE to TUBERCULOSIS . It must be as I have seen they drink milk straight from the cows udder, & with it come COLOSTRUM if that cow had just delivered a calf.
Cows milk also in the form of powder or fresh liquid, is fed to almost every living being, It is FOOD & ALL THE NOURISHMENT U CAN GET TO STAY ALIVE FROM BIRTH.
I still drink milk at my age & it has kept my complexion & skin looking good besides my teeth & no dentures. If u are a chinese I can understand why U are ignorant about milk because chinese dislike milk soon as the babies are able to eat solids. Indians in India have the best set of teeth & there are hardly any Indians U hear complain of osteoporosis.
So it has proven, MILK IS FOOD & as mentioned many times over, some people have lactose intolerance (do u know this word,,,if not go get a dictionary) .

Who are "they?"
Whoever they are, they are essentially wrong. The basic reasoning behind this argument has some basis in fact, though. Milk is fattening, and fat foods can lead to heart disease. Considering that more people die from heart disease than from cancer, that may be where the argument comes from, but that is very misleading. Truth is that if you do not drink too much, and better yet, limit yourself to the lower fat milk, it also has the characteristics of providing you with essential vitamins and minerals. Can't say that about 2nd hand smoke.

Certainly not. Here in Canada it's strictly hormone free and maybe antibiotic free. Plus, it's an important source of calcium, protein, water, and to a lesser degree energy from sugars and fats. As long as you don't go overboard and drink it at every meal, it won't hurt. You can increase the risk of diabetes if you have too much for too long. If you're worried about fat, switch to skim instead of cutting it out altogether.
Smoke, on the other hand - nothing good in that. No comparison.

Who is filing your head with this nonsense--some Tobacco Institute lackey?
Unless you are truly lactose intolerant, milk is very good for you, providing essential amino acids for protein production. The consumption of animal fats should be limited, though, so non-fat or low-fat milk products are best.
Second hand smoke, on the other hand, increases the risk of many types of cancer, heart disease, strokes, high blood pressure among others.
Are you as gullible as you sound?

For the record I smoke....
This sounds like an absurd argument cooked up by smokers who wish to continue to smoke in public.
Whatever milk may or may not be, you have the choice to drink it. If you are a parent, this is your choice to make for better or for worse - smoking in front of your child though has no excuse.

thats ridiculous.milk actually has protective effects against colon cancer ,and the vitamin d in it is helpful-especially to people who live in cold, overcast areas who dont get enough sunlight to make their own vit. d.go to any hospital and u will see people dying because they smoked.i challenge u-go to the same hospitals and look for even one patient who is dying because of milk!the only people who should avoid milk are the lactose intolerant-they lack an enzyme needed to break down milk sugar-or lactose.even then, its not fatal-just annoying-the main symptoms are diarrhea and gas! ps-the person who said their is mucous in milk is wrong.people used to think drinking milk contributed to excess mucous production within ur own body, when u have a cold.recent scientific studies have disspelled that myth.

Milk in it's essence can be a great source of calcium, protein, etc... goat milk however, can be better for some as it has smaller fat globules. I think most people up in arms about milk are thinking about hormone injections and antibiotics.

firstly: who is 'they'?
secondly: THEY are fiercly mistaken. milk is great for you! It doesn't give you cancer or chronic bronchitus/asthma like second hand smoke can.
thirdly: the only possible way milk can be bad for you is if you are lactose intolerant. then it will cause your colon to swell which causes diarreha and bloating due to excess gas build up. if you are lactose intolerant it simply means that over time your lactase enzymes that digest lactose have dwindled down to nothing and you can't digest it. it only causes irritation, it won't kill you or give you cancer.
