I took the test for Rural Carrier in 1989 and passed it with a 80. I was called maybe 6 months later. I worked on Long Island in New York as an RCA Rural Carrier Associate. I loved the job, basically they train you to sort and deliver mail. Later on you are also trained to drive a 1/2 ton truck. PROBLEMS: If you dont get a route right away usually you have to fill in for somebody, for me I was always able to get work even if you have to call other post offices to see if they need help. I usually worked 40 hours plus a 9hr sat route. When I worked I made good money $12.60 per hr but no benefits unless your full time plus you have to use your own car if they have nothing available. After awhile you can also bid on a route for yourself or get a transfer to another state. Dont forget this is almost 20 years ago, maybe things have changed. GOOD LUCK!!!!! Hope this info helps.

in case you handed the two exams then all you may do is wait and notice who calls. Hiring is predicated upon the fee of attrition somewhat than something. i might in my view prefer working as a city Letter service who gets paid by utilizing the hour somewhat than a bid pushed Rural service. What it extremely is extremely helpful to do is submit your self as TE and that would assist you get experienced mutually as youre waiting to be observed as for an eternal place.
