Well, if L. L. Bean sells Spruce Gum, I would imagine that one could also make Pine Gum. However, I do have to tell you that I have tried the Spruce Gum and the taste is absolutely HORRIBLE!
Pine species were common in northern Europe during the Mesolithic, and there is abundant historical evidence of pine resin used as a chewing gum until relatively recent times, especially in Scandinavia.

I don't know about gum, but I do know that in Canada there is a soft drink made with pine of some sort...I CANT REMEMBER what it is called. When I drank it, it reminded me of ginger ale with pine sol in it. I guess you had to grow up drinking it to like it... Can any kind Canadian neighbor clarify?
Virginia C. reminded me They call it Spruce Beer. It is non-alcoholic and sugary, like root beer, only made with spruce!

yes, but why? it taste like ****. get some extra. i would not chew pine, it will make your moth burn like hell. but, try it for yourself.
