You know, chaps and dear hearts, across my long and altogether rich life in the professional theatre, I've encountered all kinds of interesting folk. And certainly, as a student in Paris and then in Munich, I picked up a little bit here and there. But, aside from the baby panda in my city's zoo, I can't think I've enjoyed lately anything more than the earnest, fearful, moon-struck Christians who leap to every chance to defend God, as if he (or she) is not capable of defending him- or herself. It is refreshing to see such vigor and dedication to what has surely given some here pause at one time or another--I mean, hey, we're talking about a Bronze Age god of a murdering tribe of desert nomads, and this is the 21st century, the age of space exploration and the Internet and open-heart surgery and coming "cures" of terrifying diseaes and impairments. It demands courage to hold to primitive, antique ideas and notions, and I admire courage in any human being. It's so doggoned rare nowaday.

Whoa! Christians, or certainly some of 'em, can just plain forget all about, er, the teachings of Jesus.

Re by schoolboy days: Thanks to well-to-do, white church ladies in Georgia, I attended a private school in the early 'fifties, and as a cotton-mill boy, a 'linthead,' as rich white Southerners chose to call mill workers, I did not take nonsense from any of the grubby sons of small-town white bigots in the South. I grew up among kids who knew how to fight, mill kids, and I didn't lose the instinct in the private school that the church ladies figured would rescue me from a life in the mill. As to Paris, yes, I was a student in the late 'sixties there, which is why I am fluent in French. Sorry if that offends anybody. Well, no, actually I'm not. Munich a decent on. Ditto. I am who I am, and if who I am is not as you are, or as you ever hope to be, I'm not sure what the heck I can do about it. I do not believe in gods, any gods, and history if on my side in that regard.

He says sneeringly. Does condescension on your part speak well for you? I disagree with 90% of the pop understanding of Christ's teachings spoken here, however, contemptuous backhanded compliments speak more of you than them. Please.

Okay for one thing this stop trying to sound smart if you can't back your **** up. Seriously. All this traveling stuff is kind of like, what. You atheists are always saying negative things about religions, especially Christianity. Why bother? So you don't believe in something, that's cool, do you have to constantly attack people that actually have faith in something? I mean, I understand a lot of atheists have 'evidence' and all that shizz, but religion does a lot of good things for people. There's no need to be an asshat about it.
Secondly, it's a belief. Everybody knows it's not concrete. "Fearful, moon-struck Christians", you say? Well, who says we're fearful? And don't play that "Hell scares people into believing" card either, because it's generally understood the point of dying is to bring you closer to God, not to punish you. And "Not capable of defending" ourselves? Why, because we believe in something different than you and you like to demean our intelligence because it's not "concrete"? Screw. That.

The irony at one time if you where a pagan the christians would have attacked you for not believing and fear is running in their veins that the same fate awaits their religion. I do think as more and more people think that one day the numbers will shrink but I don't feel that we should push for it we don't have to we just need to keep the truth out there and available.

Yeah but they annoy me after a while. No matter, I just play some old vinyl record from the 70s or 80s backwards and they flee in droves because they don't want to hear Satan's voice.

Zeppelin's a good one - make sure you always have Zeppelin in your collection.

You must be a very unhappy soul, you are so very cynical. May the Lord give you a fresh outlook on life and speak Truth to your heart.

You better get your fun now, as far as you don't genuinely hurt anyone. You're going to need to repent and believe in your Saviour, Christ, who has paid for all your sins (but that is only effective when you believe) if you want fun after death.

Isnt it equally amazing, my dear Christian Brethren here, how QUICKLY our fellow Y! answer atheist members are to jump to defense that God does not exist?

You'd think they'd have something else with which to better occupy their time, then arguing that something doesnt exist, of which they have no profo, which in reality does! lol

I really don't enjoy Christians (as such) at all. I can't even pretend to find them "cute." I'm not amused by ignorance and hypocrisy, as much as I'd like to be, because America would be a laugh-riot.

I don't enjoy general groups of people. I like individuals, not groups.
