People do it all the time. You'd better be sure that you can keep the new job for a long time to counteract the bad reputation you'll get from walking out. Frankly with that spelling, I am surprised you can get any job at all.

Seriously if you walk out before your 4 weeks notice is up your current employer can keep any money you have earnt since the last pay day AND ask for some money back.
That was told to me by a Solicitor friend.

Better let your superiors know it. If you signed a contract when you worked, then it is better to wait.
Yes you can leave without notice if laws permit you , but that really isn't a good "characteristic".
*Also , if you leave without notice, you may not get your salary for the month, and other retirement benefits you are entitled to(if you are near your retirement). You may not get back to your previous work if your new job doesn't last too long.

if you have worked less than two years with your present company then you are required to work one weeks notice and no more, if you are owed holidays then why not take them now and start your now job with a clear mind and good reference

how long have you been working there? do you have a contract? if you walk out the worst they could do is with-hold wages/holiday pay owing. ask the agency to extend the starting date...dont be such a wimp

You are not forced to work the full notice.Tell them you are going. You might lose some holiday pay, but for the pay difference it would be worth it

legally you can walk out if you want but what happens if you need a reference in the future and if you are due holiday pay etc you wont get it.

I would go and speak to your present job and lay your cards on the table and see if you can come to some sort of arangement. Good luck.
