There are a lot of different kinds of pink eye: but mainly viral and bacterial. However, dry eyes, corneal abrasions, or even ocular allergies can sometimes be confused with "pink eye." The official word for pink eye is conjunctivitis, an inflammation of the clear covering that goes over the white part of your eye.
Your best bet is to go to your optometrist and see what kind of "pink eye" you have. There's no way to really diagnose it over Yahoo Answers. Just FYI--viral conjunctivitis can be HIGHLY contagious for the first week or so; I would recommend getting it checked out before you head back to work with a bunch of little kids.

yes, there are lots of them that actually work. The chemistry of some very simple ingredients works exactly like "professional" treatments because chemically speaking, they are the exact same ingredients. I hardly ever recommend them to users on here as I have not examined their pet and can't tell if it is something simple or something else that can only be treated by a vet. Since common sense isn't so common any more, I often tell posters to go to the vet. I would rather err on the side of caution than give someone advice that could turn to be harmful because the poster themselves can't tell sh!te from shinola. I mean really- if the questioner is not smart enough to keep their animal inside in the first place then why would I think they could understand instructions on how to lance and clean and dress an infected wound. Besides, I am not even confident that half of them could tell if it was a simple flesh wound or if it was serious. Every time I read one of those questions like "My cat/dog got hit by a car, how do I treat their broken leg,ribs,jaw... at home", I get sick to my stomach... any more, if it isn't something dead simple, I just tell them to get to a vet.

I bought some drops at Walgreen that were for pink eye/conjunctivitis and they were like $10 which was way cheaper then the gel I got from my doctor the last time. Pink eye is very contagious so be careful.

You most likely have a case of pink eye. See a doctor for appropriate treatment since pink eye can be viral or bacterial and this can only be determined by a professional medical provider. The wedsite below will help you with more detailed information.

If you wake up with crusty's, it is probably Pink Eye. Not everyone experiences the same symptoms.
There is no home remedy.
You need to go to the Dr. to get a prescription.
In the meantime, rinse with cool water for relief, and don't touch your eye.
Use a separate facial towel from the rest of the family.
Change your pillowcase every night.
It is highly contiguous.

It sounds like pinkeye to me. I just had it (I'm still on antibiotic eye drops) and it started the same way ... drippy, gunky eye with no itch, just minor irritation. After a few days it got red and more irritated.
I don't know of any natural remedies ... I went to the doctor and got Vigamox eye drops.

Bathe it with cool boiled water as often as you can. Keep towels, face cloths etc all apart from everyone elses (its horribly catching) and do your level best not to rub. I had it for over a week last time - is horrid.
It's very common - certainly sounds like pink eye. Hope it feels better soon :)

warm moist cloth over the eye for 20 minutes every hour, and apply allergy eye drops, they will reduce redness and irritation.
