Is it normal to be best friends with your first love after you have split up. My GF is says her best friend is her ex of 2 years and ive never heard of anyone being in this situation before and im worried caus i think he still loves her.

I still talk to my first love/loves. My exes are now my friends. There was a cooling off period after any relationship broke up...but something about that person drew me to them in the first place. And, while we may not make good lovers/partners, there is no reason they can not make a good friend.
Now, as long as everything is only friends, and they have gotten past the "I still want her/him" phase and are purely platonic, there should be no problem with it.

I cannot imagine how you can still be best friend with someone you love and then split up. I cannot. Her best friend should be you right now.
It doesn't matter whether he still loves her or not. Its how your GF should handle the situation. If she is still hanging out a lot with her ex, something is not right.

Well usually you cant stay friends but sometimes it does happen but there is always the worry that they will fall for eachother again but if its been two years and nothing has happened I think it would be safe to assume that nothing will happen. Just see how things go and if you think something more is going on between them then have a talk with your girl. Good Luck.

This situation is no-win. She will not let you tell her who she can be friends with. And will get offended that you think she will cheat on you.
But, when you two fight, and you will eventually fight about something, she needs someone to whine about how terrible you are. If this is her ex, I'm sure he will remind her how great they were together.

I still talk to my first love. I am 26. It's been ten years! TEN YEARS. We are not superclose but we do hang out every blue moon. It's good to see him and talk and it's a pretty unique situation.
But tell your girlfriend it bothers you.

yes it is very normal ..im best friends with my ex and have been for 8 yrs.......we was together for 13 yrs had 3 kids sad that we couldn't live together but we are friends and we both are re married...............
