Our society is so fast paced now and kids aren't getting the full one on one that they need and deserve. So many daycares are raising kids now instead of the parents themselves as Mom's don't stay at home much anymore with their kids.
Some, not all, parents also buy their kids whatever they want which only adds to the sassiness and doesn't teach ANY values whatsoever.

Lots of different things can be happening here. First he is a boy, they are rambunctious to say the least. He could be acting out for attention, he could be over stimulated, if he isn't listening, what is the context of this? If he doesn't share that can be corrected with consistent reminders from you and the teacher. It actually takes someone to sit down at their level and talk to him and the other child about sharing also setting an example and having them share with each other while you are there or sharing with each of them yourself in an activity. He might be having a hard time adjusting to the structure as well. Just some things to consider. Gotta love the boys though..they run you ragged. :) Edit: I did mean to add that it could be his diet as well. The other posters have a good idea with that too.

I think it is a combination of eating a ton more sugar and the lack of consistent boundaries. Children act out to get attention, and to test and see how far they can push the line. Parents just don't know anymore how to say "No you cannot eat that" or "No, you cannot do that." I think we are confused about whether we are supposed to be our kids friends, or our kids authority. They learn very quickly that there is or isn't a consequence for their actions. Parents today are failing miserably.

I dont think that more kids are hyper active, I think more kids are overdiagnosed as hyperactive. Bad parenting is the cause for spoiled kids as are bratty disobedient children. Too many people want to put off the problem on environmental factors rather than admit they have problems of their own.

Some of it IS that. Soem more of it is that they are so WAY overstimulated from such an EARLY age. When a child is a year old and used to a TV blaring, the radio maxed out, toys scattered all aroudn playign with, they just can't go back to beign calm and quiet,

TV helps shorten their attention spans. Take even baby einstein for example, how it quickly moves from one object to another.
Plus we had a greater sense of safety growing up, you could go outside and run off steam, with neighborhood kids or at a playground without constant supervision. We dont have that anymore.

Children today have tons of high sugar cereals that they eat. They also aren't being disciplined like they used to be. Parents who discipline their children will always have well behaved children. Those who let their children run wild are just rearing the next generation of criminals for the courts to deal with.

You can't remember kids then being wild....then you must not of been looking. My grandmother said.....until they are teens....kids have been the same since she was little. I think you have just lost patience....kids will be kids.....let them learn and let them explore.....you use to demand that when you were little as well.....all kids did.
