Though I know that you are not really looking for an answer, I will reply for others benefits.
Since Jesus gave his disciples and not bartenders the autority and power to forgive or retain sins (John 20: 21-23), I would say it works better to go to a priest.
A priest have been given the authority by Jesus Christ to forgive sins. a bartender has not.

bending on your knees and praying to God works best. Cut out all middle man and go straight to the source. A bartender and a priest are equal in this situation. Null and Void. Have a personal relationship with God and Christ. Its called personal accountability. You can not go to heaven by praying to a priest. The only way to heaven is through Jesus Christ.

I don't recall Jesus telling any bartenders "whose sins you forgive, they are forgiven them". These words were spoken only to the priests of His Church, immediately after He breathed upon them, signifying a special empowerment by the Holy Spirit.

This is a good question, I'm sure that you'll get some interesting answers for this one. My husband's family is Catholic, so confession is viewed as very important. I was not raised Catholic and in my Bible (not the King James Version - although I have read it) it indicated to ask for forgiveness through God Himself. It did not mention that I should go to a man, holy or not, and ask him to "get me a pardon."
Sorry for stepping on toes, it's just an opinion.

Neither. Talking to your doggie would be preferable, unless the priest just happens to be a friend. Priests are just people with a divinity degree, not necessarily divinity. Alcohol kills your brain cells, and if you're like me, you need all of them you can get. If you've done wrong, apologize to the person you wronged, change your behavior and don't repeat it. Notch up your integrity, and be a true friend and all that implies to all who cross your path.

go to the priest. I think some people forget Priests and Bishops were forgiving sins before the Bible was written.

My bartender is the Grand Inquisitor, he feeds me Jack Daniels and I tell him my secrets.Plus, you have a much better chance at getting laid at a bar than you do at a confessional.

I believe that both of those work. Confession simply means to confess.
