Reason I ask is because many seem to think, rather blindly believe, everything in Bible is God inspired, such as slaughter of children & destruction of people, which would make God bi-polar & fearful to approach lest he's having a "law worketh wrath" day. To me "the God of all comfort" is no dis-comfort at all & "the God of all grace" is no law at all, in the same manner "that God is light" is no darkness at all; And "the only true God" suggests a false God to compare in such things are "allegory" & "mystery" to solve, not literal nor historical.
3:17 speaks of the "man" of God, "perfect": "all good works"; Not child, imperfect: good & bad works. God said: Let us make "man". Paul said: when I became a "man", I put away childish things(plural).
2Tim 3:16,17
All scripture [is] given by inspiration of God, and [is] profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

Dear OldGuy,
God is not LORD in flood story.
The day of the LORD is darkness.
Darkness is getting pretty "OLD",
"ready to vanish" & "shall vanish".
God said: "Let there be LIGHT",
declaring the end from beginning.
There's no miss in "understanding".

All scripture refers to just that....ALL scripture
There's no way around the fact that God is the one who wrote the book...through the power of God the Holy Spirit

Ask and answer this; Is God the judge of mankind?
If He is not the rightful judge, then He is as you say.
But if He is the judge as I blindly believe, then doesn't he have the right to execute His judgements?
As far as the killing of women and children go, this was a very common practice, God as well as man demanded that a man pay with his life and all his things. Just look at the fate of those men who decieved the king into throwing Daniel in the lion's den. God didn't order their execution, the king did. The men, their wives and their children.
The woman and child were considered his 'possessions' and nothing more. That is a bad way of looking at things and it's not my way, but back in those days that's the way it was.
Find one example of a woman committing a capital offence and her husband being killed with her. It was only the man that recieved the honor of taking down his entire house with him.
As far as the towns and cities where every man woman and child were killed, God saw the evil in those towns and got rid of the whole town. Now you may wonder why He would do that, and for good reason. But I look at it like this; God knew the age of grace was coming. This is the times we live in now where he refuses to execute any judgment on mankind at all.
He has shown us the severity of his judgments through the old testament, and hopes that we will remember that he is the judge and we will answer to him.
Remember it was only 200 years ago that a man could be killed for saying God is a fallacy. Ignorance on our part, yes.
But, God also told us that evil would increase in the last days, and it has. He also told us about two prophets that would fly over Israel and preach the gospel. They will die and be left in the streets for three days and the entire world will look upon them and rejoice because they made many suffer. Up till about 20 years ago that scripture could not be accounted for because of television and the way they choose what we see. Now we have this wonderful device called the internet, and now that scripture that was written over 2000 years ago seems not only pausible but no one can deny the reality of the whole world seeing those two dead propets any longer.
If you don't believe that the bible is the written word of God, then you follow a different God than the God of the bible.
It really is that simple. Jesus told the religious men of His day that they were of their father the devil. Why? Because they refused to know the real God and His Son whom the bible wrote about. He told them they were not Abrahams children, why? Because when men of God came to Abraham he knew they were men of God, or Angels. He saw the truth because he loved the real God. The religious people of Jesus day were so consumed with their own judgments and reasonings they had rejected the very covenant they thought would bring them eternal life. Sounds like someone is attempting to steer you down this path as well. Seek the real Jesus through His word, only when you come to Him in love will you understand the righteous judgments that are His to make.

The whole Bible is inspired by God.
2 Peter 1:20 knowing this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture comes from someone's own interpretation. 21 For no prophecy was ever produced by the will of man, but men spoke from God as they were carried along by the Holy Spirit.
"the God of all comfort" & "the God of all grace" is also the Holy & Righteous Judge. God's love does not cancel out his other qualities. That doesn't make God "bi-polar". It only means that you along with many other people have trouble reconciling different manifestations of God's character with some of the passages that you find in the Bible because it is difficult to understand how on the one hand God could be "love" and on the other hand a God of severe judgment.
Isaiah 55:6 "Seek the LORD while he may be found; call upon him while he is near; 7 let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts; let him return to the LORD, that he may have compassion on him, and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon. 8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the LORD. 9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.
The "only true God" is explained in this passage.
1 Corinthians 8:5 For although there may be so-called gods in heaven or on earth--as indeed there are many "gods" and many "lords"-- 6 yet for us there is one God, the Father, from whom are all things and for whom we exist, and one Lord, Jesus Christ, through whom are all things and through whom we exist.
If you want to understand God's character better then I would suggest reading Knowledge of the Holy by A W Tozer http://glorifyhisname.com/sys-tmpl/koh/

“ALL Scripture is inspired of God.” These words at 2 Timothy 3:16 identify God, whose name is Jehovah, as the Author and Inspirer of the Holy Scriptures. How satisfyingly delightful the inspired Scriptures are! What an amazing fund of true knowledge they provide! They are indeed “the very knowledge of God” that has been sought after and treasured by lovers of righteousness in all ages.—Prov. 2:5.
For one to be a fellow worker with God, faith is needed. Faith is not to be confused with the watered-down credulity that is so prevalent today. Many people think that any kind of belief—sectarian, evolutionary, or philosophical—is sufficient. However, the man of God must “keep holding the pattern of healthful words . . . with the faith and love that are in connection with Christ Jesus.” (2 Tim. 1:13) His faith must be real and alive, for “faith is the assured expectation of things hoped for, the evident demonstration of realities though not beheld.” It must be grounded in a firm belief in God and his rewards for those who please him. (Heb. 11:1, 6) This faith is to be obtained only through diligent study of God’s Word, the Bible. It is founded in deep love for the Bible and for the God of the Bible, Jehovah, and for his Son, Jesus Christ. There is only one such living faith, even as there is only one Lord, Jesus Christ, and one God and Father of all, Jehovah.—Eph. 4:5, 6.
The divine Author has spoken to mankind at great length. He has shown great depth of love and fatherly interest in what he has done for his children on earth. What a remarkable collection of inspired documents he has provided for us in the Holy Scriptures! Truly, these form a treasure beyond compare, an extensive library of ‘divinely breathed’ information, far exceeding in wealth and in scope the writings of mere men. Devotion to the study of God’s Word will not become “wearisome to the flesh,” but, rather, it will bring eternal benefits to those knowing “the saying of Jehovah [that] endures forever.”—Eccl. 12:12; 1 Pet. 1:24, 25.

Yes all scripture is all scripture.
God is the giver of all life - He is creator and is able to give life and able to take it away.
When mankind fell into sin, God could have thrown us all into hell at that point. The creation itself moans as it is used by men for all type of evil. The creation itself would swallow us up if God would remove His hand of kindness. What is amazing is His patience and mercy. What is amazing is that He sent forth His Son as a sacrifice for sin!

It seems to me you want to produce your own Bible. You accept when the Bible says "the God of all comfort" but reject when the Bible says "Vengence is Mine I will repay, says the Lord". If you pick what you want and reject what you want it is your word, not God's Word.
