You are thinking quite logically, actually. I think that religions tend to control their congregants through fear sometimes. I do not even care for the term "sin" because it has such a negative religious connotation. You know (and I do) what is morally acceptable and the difference between right and wrong, and we can decide for ourselves what is suitable for us so far as behavior is concerned. I think that if we live our lives in such a manner that we do not add to the miseries of the world and in some small way endeavor to leave our portion of it better than when we arrived, then we are living worthwhile lives and need not worry about "sinning". I read your profile; best wishes for your future!

Okay, I agree that we are all sinners. Everything else you said doesn't make sense at all. How can you say that you don't want forgiveness? You Creator loves you with all His heart, and is willing to forgive you though you have sinned against Him, and still you reject His greatest gift? Your individuality is fine, but you deserve to die for your sins. Everyone does. Would you rather take forgiveness and eternal life, or would you reject your loving God and face an eternity without Him? Read John 3:17-21
Also, I took the time to read all the oher answers, and it seems to me that all the atheists are saying is that this is a reason Christianity is stupid, or this is a reason I left the church. The Christians seem genuinely concerned and want to help. Why is that?

So am I, but I understand that "all have sinned and fallen short of theglory of God." I'd much rather hear God tell me that I'm not a sinner, but that's not reality.
I'm glad you like who you are. That's a great place to start. It's also great that you admit you're not perfect. Great, neither am I. That's why we need to be forgiven by God. We were designed to be perfect, but after the fall, its not possible without Jesus dying on the cross. But "differences" are not the same as "sins".
If you don't want forgiveness, he won't give it to you.
God loves you, and so do I. And there's nothing you can do about it.

You are right. This is a teaching that gets very OLD very FAST.
The act of Baptism removes serious sin. Many Christians live their lives after baptism without sin that endangers them from Heaven. They don't need to be constantly reminded about sin. They are also aware when they cross the line into sins that are less serious and ask God for forgiveness. This is a pure life that many Christians live.
The Catholic Church understands the need for forgiveness of serious sin offering the Sacrament of Reconciliation to Catholic Christians who have offended God and mankind by serious sins. Once forgiven those sins, a soul need not ever revisit that sin. Just forget about it. It's over. Some Catholics only go to Reconciliation once a year, the minimum required, because they live without breaking the Ten Commandments.
If you ever go into Catholic masses you will be struck by the messages over and over again. They are of how much God loves us. This is the message Christians need to hear over and over again, not about sin. We are delivered from being sinners. We have to get into our hearts how much He loves us in order for us to properly love the world.
Loving the world is our job.
Yours in Christ Jesus, Grace

The thing is, is that they are also sinners. The Bible says "we are all sinners and fall short of the glory of God". It also says that "let any man withought sin cast the first stone". So if their telling you that your a sinner and they think they are sinnless then they are in the wrong. But if they are telling you and they know they have sin then they are in the right. It's not to condemn you, but their is sutch a thing as beating a dead horse. I tell God every day how mutch I love Him and that i am sorry if i sinned against Him. I personally don't like doing any body wrong.

Good for you! I say that because perfect is how you were created and perfect is what you are. You are an Eternal Spirit inside a physical body and you are here to have a physical experience. Your spirit is beautiful and perfect and cannot be destroyed or damaged. Be happy to be a child of your Creator. Life is too short for guilt and fear. Live your life in joy and try to harm no other on your journey. Blessed Be.

You said it yourself - no one is perfect. We are ALL sinners. We can still like ourselves though, because if we have accepted Jesus as our saviour, God sees us as perfect in Christ. God will deal with each individual about the things in our lives that need to be changed, and HE will do it in HIS time. If you have Christ in your heart, don't CONCERN yourself with anybody else's judgmental attitude - including the pastor. But you DO have to accept the fact that you, like everyone else on earth, ARE a sinner...and you have to repent in order to accept Christ. Being a "good person" will not get you into Heaven.
Sounds to me like you have a "fire & brimstone preaching pastor" at your church who doesn't preach the whole bible; only the threatening parts. (Is it a Baptist church?) Either that, or you have problems facing truth when it's not a truth you want to hear.
Earl D - According to the bible, EVERYONE who accepts Christ as their Saviour is a saint. That doesn't mean we have perfect behavior; it means we have a perfect heart for God.
Fallen Angel - NOBODY can live up to God's expectations. That's the whole reason behind Jesus dying for OUR sin. We are made perfect through the blood of Christ. We come to God as we are and He loves us anyway, as long as we confess our sin and accept His son!

So what is your question? If you are wanting people to stop telling you that then you probably shouldn't walk around posting it in this section. I'm not perfect and I'm not ashamed of who I am but what I've done. The fact that we are all sinners makes us the same not different. We're all in the same boat drifting in the same direction and need someone to help us.

Noone says you should be ashamed of who you are. What they are saying is the truth. According to The Holy Bible you do need to ask forgiveness in order to go to heaven. If you do not want to do that, that's your choice. Differences are one thing, sinning is another. There is a difference. I'd say if it bothers you that much, it's probably God working in your life, trying to get your attention. Do you feel like they are talking directly to you or like you're the only one there? God is wanting to be a part of your life, he's talking to you, leading you to him!! Follow Him!

Ask them if they are sin free, when you admit that you are not perfect that makes you a better person than those doing the accusing. Besides calling someone a sinner, a druggie for instance etc and they are not , does that not make the accuser a sinner by bashing someone?
