Many Christians now consider it a reclaimed word, as some Christians, especially Christian youth, occasionally use it as a positive term to let others know that they are not ashamed of their beliefs.

Yahoo Answers removed one of my answers because I used this term..... How unfair is that... I am a Jesus Freak. it is nothing to be ashamed of.

I don't find it offensive at all. If you are going to be a "freak" over anything it should be Jesus. He died for us, so that we can have eternal life!!! Has anyone else done that for us? Of course not. Jesus is my all and all. I too am proud to be a Jesus Freak. God bless you.

I guess that perception is everything. Most people would object to be calling freaks of any kind since the word "freak" has a negative connotation.

If you have enough in your beliefs that you would describe yourself as a "freak" then more power to you.

"Jesus Freaks" are not the first group to take a negatively charged term and make it positive. Just look at what some other groups have done to turn the tables on words that were once used to describe them in a negative light.

All of us have a choice of how we want to see the world, again perception is everything.

In 1969 that was no compliment. I assume it has changed it's connotation now? Or is a Jesus freak still a filthy hippy that babbles on about Jesus. Jesus Christ-Superstar, Joseph's Technicolor Dreamcoat...I wouldn't go near these things. So think about it before you embrace this as a label. The older generation will recoil.

Really I don't mind. Been called that most of the time. Today I'm welcome by them and being ask for prayers to their problem. They don't tease me anymore and took me seriously. It is the fruit of the person that shows whether you are a freak or really a man that walks the faith. I don't just show them that I am a christian by faith but also do the works. But certain people thinks that we Jesus Freak [ as they term it ] thinks we are from hell but actually we don't know about hell but surely they do since they use that word. Or probally they are from there. We do know of heaven. I strongly believe they are from there and are going there soon.

Well Rick James says she's a Super Freak, and she's alright.

So I guess the same would apply to Jesus Freaks

Well having been harassed & stalked by "God botherers" I still find the phrase awkward if not insensitive.

OTOH in select positive situations I'll accept being called a Witch, so I suppose the same applies here.

Be safe.

Nah, it was a D.C. Talk song awhile ago, wasn't it.

There are far worse things being said about believers. "Jesus Freak" isn't offensive at all.

Not offensive at all, no more so than computer nerd or geek. I am a tudor history nut. It's just a word.
