I remember at my first job that after an interview, it took an entire month before I actually got hired. The job that I interviewed for on Friday they told me they would get back to me one way or the other within 24 hours, but they haven't...should I call them today...if so..what should I say?

It is a couple of ways to do this. First of all, if they say that they would get back to you in 24 hours and did not. You need to call them within 48 hours. This is what you say, Tell them your name and tell this that you were calling to find out the status of your application process and remind them when you interviewed. Another way is the "thank you" card that I mention often. Many people do not do this because they think it is corny. But this is a way that you will not be forgotten. Send a thank you card thanking them for thier time and mention that if no position is avaliable for you at the moment that you hope that they keep you in mind for future positiions.

Someone said, never call. That is WRONG. ALWAYS call. The simple truth is in today's economy, competition for jobs is stiff. They need to see that you really want this job.

If they say that they have chosen another candidate, then so be it. If they do not say that. Wait one week and call them again. Call once each week until they either hire you or go with someone else.

Find out how long that they keep applications on file. If they went with someone else make sure that they know that you are open for other jobs. Then call every 2 weeks once until your application has expired.

Remember that they interviewed you and you are a person of interest. Now you have to show them that you really want this job.

****Remember ALL companies want to know that the person that they are hiring, really wants the job. They also want to feel that the person that they are hiring is going to be a vested employee. (Working for them for years to come) Employee turn around causes companies millions of dollars a year. Showing that this is something that you really want, looks better to any prospective employer***

I had a job interview on a Tuesday and he said to expect a call by the end of the week, when I did not get that, I sent a follow up e-mail thanking them for meeting with me and the next morning they called and gave me the job. Try that.

Call and try to talk with the person you met with on Friday. Simply ask if any additional info is needed as the process moves forward.

A friend of mine called many many times and they ended up hiring him to shut him up. Actually, they hired him because he was very persistant.
Absolutely, call them and let them know you are the one for the job. Call everyday at around the same time. Good Luck. Let me know when you get the job.

I wouldn't contact them. If they've given you a definitive time frame and they haven't stuck to it, it probably means they are still considering other candidates or have gotten too busy to pick up the phone.

I'd wait it out. However, if you do feel anxious and want to know something sooner call about a week or two later and ask to speak with the person who interviewed you, thank them for their time and make sure not to ask about the position. This keeps your name fresh in the interviewers mind and they might decide to tell you whether they've hired someone or whether they want you. This also gives them more than enough time to make a decision.

Feel it out, though. Some companies WANT aggressive employees and will note the fact that you were persistent about the position.

As a rule, though, I usually just wait,

You do not follow up to ask that; you follow up to thank them for the intreview, to offer to address any additional questions or concerns they might have, and to confirm your interest in the postion. Email is better than a phone call, if possible. They will notify you when they have made a decision.

I don't think you should call them. Don't give them the impression that you are desperate for the job even if you are. Wait for them to call you back. If they really wanted to hire you they will call you back.

And the same question pops up again

If they didn't call you back when they said they would, its because they're not interested. Give them a call and ask.
And don't believe this junk about persistent calling gets the job. Usually they'll just take you to court for harassment.
