I would seek a second opinion. Lumps aren't normal unless they've been biopsied and found to be harmless. Sometimes lumps can be from fatty tissue or swollen glands, but why are the glands swollen? Is it from an infection or lymphoma? See a second doctor, maybe an endocrinologist or infectious disease doctor, or oncologist, but I would start with the endocrinologist.

A lump in the throat could mean an enlarged tonsils or a throat lesion due to an infection. If you do not feel reassured, ask that doctor to explain to you what it may be and if you have to take or do anything to reduce it. And if you feel that your lump is not reducing in size after 4-5 days or if it is getting more painful or there's some form of infection, go and seek the doctor's advice. I would say that waiting for 4-5 days to see if there's any difference would be better then rushing into things that could result in you wasting your time, effort and money.

Not reassured at all since I have had doctors tell me I had cancer when I didn't. They wanted to make some money on the treatments. Look for another doctor until you find one who will explain things to you.

i wouldn't at all be reassured.

has the doctor ruled out a cyst (they move)

most commonly parathyroid disease is never thought of. this gland is a tad bit higher above the actual thyroid and it is offset. area is below mid jaw line-if this hurts, it is probably parathyroid. most issues are not cancer-it's just gone bad and needs to be removed. a good clue for parathyroid is slight pain, a nodule you can't really feel, but you know somethings wrong and heart palpitations. other symptoms are low energy levels. (but not always is this the case)

it is more common in females than males, but it is not uncommon either.

^ Apparently you don't feel reassured and that's all that matters, did your doctor tell you what he or she thought it is or might be. Go to another doctor and get a second opinion, that way you can put this matter behind you, stressing yourself out won't help your situation. Good luck, I hope this helps.

It would depend on how the Dr. said it. If he said, "Oh that's nothing" or told me it was "my nerves"--not reassured at all. If he offered some kind of explanation--say that it was down to allergies or pollen or something--and if I had a good rapport with him as my doctor, then yes I would forget about it.

It depends on how much I trusted my doctor. Mine is both a family friend and has been my doctor for about 25 years, and he hasn't steered me wrong yet. If he told me it was OK, he'd explain why, and I'd believe him.

Maybe, if the doctor explained what the lump was and why I had it.

GET IT CHECKED OUT....Believe me, do not just take one Doctors word for it, you are the one to pay any potential consequences not the Doctor...did he/she say what it was? In any event I would check it out.
