Probably not when vision can be dealt with using glasses, it'd be great if they did though.

because the NHS has no money, or room to be giving out free lazer eye surgery the only way the NHS could afford to do that free is if taxes increased so much so that u end up payin the equivalent of 3 lazer eye surgeries on top of the current tax by the end of your life so just save up, it's not that expensive, am sure u spend £100 a year on glasses or contacts, it costs about £700 for both eyes to b lazered, if u think u r gonna live for more than 7 more years, then my advice is pay for the surgery

A year or so ago one of the chef ophthalmologists was on the radio and said it was still an untried technology and said that the success rate was 98 or 99%. He also said he would not have it done on himself.

When the technology is much more reliable it might be considered along with other new treatments. At the moment, no, the NHS would be sued by the 1 or 2 % unsuccessful.

I've been having laser surgery for the last 20+ years on the NHS, though it's probably not the laser surgery that you're referring to. I have it for diabetic proliferative retinopathy.

Actually the nhs do cosmetic surgery such as breast augmentations, rhinoplasty etc. but only for people who are seriously affected by their low self esteem.

Although when it comes to vision the nhs are quite skanky with how much money they will give to people towards their glasses and you generally have to rely on your opticians nhs discounts to get a decent set of frames.

The nhs might do surgery for detatched retinas things like that but for people with relativly simple prescriptions i very much doubt that they will.

Personally, i very much doubt it.

As someone has already said, its not an illness. Sight problems can be treated with glasses or contact lenses, the NHS doesnt have the money to start treating things that can already be managed by something else.

If the procedure gets cheaper possibly. Also, though laser is yielding great success we need long term study results to see how it affects us.

I only wear glasses for TV and like going into intellectual mode. ;)

no its not a real illness is it. its just poeple being vain about there appearence. some women look sexier in glasses anyway.
i have heard that they are finding side affects with laser treatment but the person who told me said they could not go into details at the moment.

Laser eye surgery is very safe nowadays. My cousin got her dental implants and lasik surgery in India by a company called Forerunners Healthcare. The Price for dental and lasik surgery is very less in India. She paid 25% of the price she was quoted in America.

Forerunners Healthcare is very famous in India They arrange Dental surgery, jaw surgery, lasik eye surgery, Dental Implants etc for foreign patients in India. I read a lot about them in the Newspapers and magazines- about their patient stories.
They arrange financing for USA, Canadian, UK and other international patients who plan to have surgery abroad for low cost, as dental and eye surgery is not covered by insurance. They also have photos pasted of their International patients. You can checkout their website. There are huge cost savings. As a doctor I personally believe that surgery can be easily handled in India, as the quality of healthcare available In India is simply best in the world. The surgeons are USA/UK trained and facilities are 5 star.

Hope this helps.
