find daily calorie intake calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours - it optimizes your metabolism)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have protein (lean meat, legumes etc) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min (ideally 45min because the first 20-30min body burns carbs and only then starts burning fat), light weight training (more muscle=faster metabolism)
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, pasta etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)

Drink lots of water, it actually stops you from nibbling. Green tea is really good too. Eat three healthy meals a day. If you do get hungry between meals. Try not to snack on crisps etc. Replace them with fruit. In your meals you should include meat and take of the fat. Fish is also very good. Of course vegetables (these will keep you full till next meal.)
Exercise. But if you haven't been active for a while. Don't immediatly do a hard work out on the treadmill. You will lose your motivation and will probably hurt yourself. Id say start of walking for 10 or 15 mins everday. Then gradually build up.
People who skip meals will find it harder to lose weight than peopel who do eat meals.

Eat right and exercise. That means 3 meals/day of good protein, carbs and a little fat and 20-30min/day at least 3 days/week of moderate cardio exercise.
Good protein is lean meat, beans and nuts.
Good carbs are whole grain breads and cereals, veggies and fruits.
Good fats are nuts, omega3s like in salmon and olive oil.
Cardio exercise like elliptical or stationary bicycle.
