Many don't speak English. They speak languages such as the many dialects of Chinese, Japanese, Thai, etc.

India - overpopulation, lots of poverty, areas are experiencing water shortages

Japan - actually, in Japan, there is currently a lack of women getting married and having children, so the nation needs more women to have children.

Japan and South Korea fear nuclear attacks by North Korea

Burma - corruption and takeover of government by military junta

Philippines - corrupt government, human traficking (women are sold or tricked into leaving the nation for work and then forced into prostitution as sex slaves) This is actually a large problem in all of Southeast Asia, but the Philippines produces an exceptionally high number of sex slaves.

Indonesia, Malaysia, Sri Lanka, and India experience many natural disasters (earthquakes, tsunamis, etc.)

Containing AIDS and preventing an epidemic in India and China is also a major issue.
