I don't think it is true. Many of the third world countries require their women to make great sacrifices for the culture, and western independent women shock them as selfish. I think women's equality and independence is a great thing, and a natural product of evolution. Many of those cultures are going to experience it as well. Irish women are very beautiful in my opinion!

Im from South Africa so would not have a idea but my brother worked in Ireland for 5 years and he says the woman over there are selfish and drink way too much and like to argue .. if its true I don't know but he is a man so I guess in any relationship woman are selfish no matter what culture or country ... don't think you should worry yourself a lot over other ppls opinion at the end its your bf's that counts!!!

So many cultures have weird (and generalised) opinions of other cultures...rarely based on fact, or perhaps based on an anecdote or two. Sounds like one or two of those Poles had bad experiences, that's all...it's silly of them to behave like that, but a lot of people are silly. And maybe they were joking anyway, or trying to be nostalgic about the "women at home"...I don't know. Don't let it offend you. People say lots of terrible things all the time.
