I hate when other kids pick on kids who are autistic or mentally disabled. I have seen it done and I was their to back them up to. I just tell the kid picking on them to leave them alone. See who are we to do anything like that. In every autism is a gift. And we should be courteous to kids with that gift because it does not come without reason. Their is a reason for everything. God Bless everybody.

How unique they are who are led by the spirit to teach other's their own gift and no I don't mean the ones who work with the mentally disabled, I am talking about the mentally disabled. How unique it is that they are to teach us their gift of friendship, love and hope. Their was this kid named jay Yates and in my accident when I was hit by a car in 2002, He was such a friendly kid, he drew me pictures and was so worried about me.

i agree with you and appreciate ur feelings of compassion. I have seen people doing that to mentally ill people but such people should fear God. All of us are Gods children n we mustnt indulge in such a disgusting behaviour. Its important to remember that mental or physical illness can strike any of us. God dislikes his children being treated poorly by the more enabled.

when anyone calls a mentally ill person "mad" I tell them that mad people are tjhose who have been gifted a brain yet fail to use it nicely and not those that they call "mad". They are not mad just ill or special like the autistic.

I agree with you in that each person is different and special. I worked in group homes for teens that were autistic and mentally disabled before becoming a stay at home Mom. No person should have to ever suffer being bullied. It isn't just special needs kids that are bullied, but from what I see it is almost any child that is different from the norm, and how sad is that! You make a good point. God be with you.
Peace.

Sometimes the disability isn't as obvious as with other people at first. Some autistic people look pretty normal on the outside till they are asked to do certain things and then it's obvious. I hate when people don't like someone just because they are bored by them or think they're superficially smart, like a computer, and not "truly" smart. I never thought of it the way you said it though, that the gift is not without reason. :) Will have to remember that.

Absolutely in every sense.

My DH does just that...intervenes whenever he can to try and protect those being bullied or mistreated by others...and he can - he's a big guy. Sometimes one has to think of personal safety too - i.e. are the people doing the bullying liable to attack the intervener due to mental state?

Nice post though.

Have a great day.

it's good to know that someone tells the bullies it's not okay. I work with autistic children every week, and they're just as beautiful as a normal child, if not more so.
Besides, everyone has autistic traits. Theirs are just far more apparent.

Take care!

kids always do that and the only way to stop them is to kill them:) the more important thing is that adults do that. not in such an open way as kids but in more subtile and more effective way. now that's a problem. oh and by the way kids do not have the feeling of empathy so we cannot teach them saying "imagine that it was you". it's not their fault.

We as parents should teach our children love and tolerance for those that are different. No one should make fun of anyone, for any difference be it mental, physical, cultural, personal beliefs, ethnic background, etc. Unfortunately, the world is full of those who do are ignorant, and simply, do not know any better. There are those that have so little knowledge and understanding of others. So much self hatred, they take it out on the world. May God bless you as well****

I see it happen all too often to those poor kids. Problem is mommy and daddy don't teach them any better. Just keep fighting the good fight. You're doing what's right.;)
