If you say someone is ugly (you know, not pretty, not handsome), are you not insulting his/ her parents? I mean, it's in the genes, right?

I can see beauty in everyone. I have never, ever, met a person that I cannot find something "beautiful" about unless they are just evil and then no matter what they look like, their inner ugliness is transparent and I avoid them. But to go out of your way to mention that someone you don't know is "ugly" is a very shallow thing to do.

Why call a cat a mouse? Why not be honest and say someone is ugly however they have a great personality etc. You can be the prettiest girl on earth but have an ugly stinking attitude.

I would have to agree with Calliope. Someone that is ugly to me is a person that has poor manners, cannot say nice things about other people, and is generally not someone I'd want to be around. Anyone that would degrade someone else is ugly.

Physical beauty will only get someone so far. I have met many people that were physically attractive only to get to know them and see how ugly they were in how they treated others.

I don't think it's insulting for the parents as much as it would be irritationg, overall it's not a compliment and for sure the parents won't be feeling good knowing or hearing this about their own son/daughter coz in their eyes he's/she's the best.

Personally i feel no1s ugly until tht person believes himself / herself to be 1 . The defination of ugly shld be clear and also that of beauty. Ugly physically means having something physically unlike the normal. It may look unpleasant but that characterestic is an identity of the person who has it.

All tht matters is yuor perspective the question yuo have asked itself proves you are a very superficial person and still needs to understand the defination of ugly and beauty.

Its like we all think babies are gorgeous but all in all if we think in their physical aspect they have everything in small sizes which is quite abnormal. But tht doesnt stop us from saying tht they are beautiful.

I guess you would be by proxy, but the real insult is to the person his/herself.

Personally, I have never liked calling people "ugly". In fact, it's a strict rule in my house ( I have kids) that we do NOT call others ugly.

But then, I have a little bit different defintion of the word "ugly".

Some people see it as having undesirable or unusual characteristics in body or face. (ie: overweight, buck teeth, stringy hair, acne)

I define ugly as someone who is petty, shallow, rude, mean, bigoted, etc.

Not really. If both parents carry a recessive gene, then a trait that didn't appear in the parent could appear in the child.

i never do some comments like that to others, of course if we say to someone that he or she is ugly' some people dont mind it and just laugh about it, some people get hurt, feel insulted and make a big deal out of it... but what shall we do with people saying like that? absolutetly nothing right'' all we can do is just accept that we are all powerless over other people' we can not control others of what they wanna say about others..

What a mean thing to think and say. I don't think this is the right section for this either.

And yes, you're insulting his/her parents, his/her grandparens, his/her brothers and sisters, his/her friends, should I go on?

If someone is ugly, necessarily maintain the beauty with good behavior. So no one will dare to comment!!!!
