If they Fight at 168 and Toney is not gaunt from losing weight. He would beat the Hopkins. Toney at his best was a really hard puncher at Middleweight.

I think the fight would be similar to the Roy JOnes / Hopkins fight. TOney would be just a little to slick for Hopkin to catch him. But it would be a very interesting match up.
Honestly I still would like to see them fight. Maybee Hopkins could move up 200lbs.
BUt if we are talking early 90's I'd take Toney 116-112

straightforward. Hopkins James began at one hundred sixty and fairly much continuously struggled with conditioning and making weight. Toney is quite confusing to hit cleanly, a real soreness interior the *** for fighters. although, you need to undergo in innovations he replaced into no longer continuously so cunning. Toney progressed his skills as he matured. He replaced into nevertheless youthful while he landed that punch and startched Michael Nunn. Toney benefited extra for Nunn's errors than his very own skill. Hopkins on no account had worry making one hundred sixty. He, too, is quite cunning and complicated to hit cleanly. it can be a messy combat because of the fact Bernard is confusing and James could do all he can to combination it up. James Toney replaced into an exceedingly diverse fighter AFTER leaving one hundred sixty. He found out lots and it relatively is incredible that he replaced into waiting to pass all a thank you to heavyweight. He could have been much extra effective had he had the self-discipline to coach. it relatively is the place the version lies. Hopkins could ensue in shape, as continuously. James could be in shape too at one hundred sixty yet he did no longer continuously practice and he relatively has shown a severe loss of self-discipline. After his loss to Roy Jones, he blamed all of us different than himself. That, too, shows a loss of accountability. On intangibles, i could ought to declare Hopkins outshines Toney. There could lie the version. it could be supply and take for various the combat. I see an unsightly combat, very such as Hopkins' sequence with Antione Eckles. Down the stretch Hopkins could pull forward on factors, triumphing 3 of the final 4 rounds. Hopkins by close decision

AT MW Toney was very good but he was somewhat green and not as technical as he was from 168 on. The 168 Toney may have won, but at 160 I think he was a bit too green.

I'll go Toney though its very tough call. How stupid is it that these two never met in the ring. I think Toney has more power and boxing skills are about equal. This is almost impossible to call the more I think about it.
