ok, so i'd like to know how 'ch' and 'c' are pronounced...e.g. with ch in a word like 'feche' and the 'c' in a word like 'cima'.

thanks

"ch" is like "shh" sound.. so 'feche' sounds like 'FE-shee' (pronunciation emphasis on the 'fe')

the sound is made hard only by putting 't' before it, for example 'tchau' ('chow')

"c" sounds like 's' before the vowels e and i, and hard (k sound) before a, o, u

so 'cima' sounds like "SEE-ma"

however the exception is you can make the 'c' turn into a 's' sound before the a,o and u vowels if you attach a cedilla (ç)

in this case, it doesn't matter what vowel follows the 'ç', it always makes the 's' sound - eg 'caçar' (ka-ssar) and 'cupuaçu' (koo-pwa-ssu)
