After I answered your question, you said the dogs sleep outside. This is simple.... you cannot correct an unwanted behavior if you are not there to correct it.

Don't expect your outdoor dogs to live like indoor dogs. Barking is a natural behavior and to an animal who lives outside, it is part of his survival. You created it. Live with it or bring them inside.

I also answered that question thinking the dogs were inside at night. I agree with you. I have 3 dogs that are inside dogs, which never bark at night. Dogs should be kept inside not outside.

erm... carry their mouth close each and every time they commence barking.. o.o and.. in case you often look in the front of them even as they bark.. they are barking because they want ur interest.. so.. do not pass to them too many times even as they bark.. attempt to push aside them rather xD If its fairly that undesirable (like your neighbor starts complaining) or some thing..you could continually get mufflers (negative canines tho ><)

just curious... have you tried seeing if they are actually scared of the dark?? i know it might sound stupid but maybe if you install a security light like the censor ones that turn on with movement... it might stop them from barking....
