You people who are saying get over it must not live in southern California... it's like little mexico here... they run across the boarder and get free medical, free food, free money, take the jobs... not to mention how education has been effected by all of this illegal immigration... now they are forcing us to change our native language. it just doesn't seem right!!! When would we be allowed to go to their country and get all of these benifits from the tax paying citizens, and force from to change from spanish to english....

KoKoWEENA.... I am educated! I am just getting fed up with the fact that our way of living is getting overrun. house values are down in many areas, schools have to accept non english speaking students and get them up to grade level in one year (which by the way is nearly impossible because they don't want to learn english) So please... stop with the personal insults... I am talking about a real issue, one that many other people see and are afraid to stand up to because we will look like racist pigs... but we are not... we just don't want to turn into little mexico!

Well, not me. I don't see why that is a problem.
I believe that you just don't want to learn another language, and you think that Spanish and people who speak it are very low lives, ignorants, illiterates, etc, who come here to live like parasites.
It is really amazing how some people can be so totally wrong.
If you want to stay in your "english only" bubble, that is your problem, but in a few years you will have to talk in sign language.
Most people who come here are NOT parasites, they are hard working people who benefit this country and pay taxes.
About the schools, you must know that they REALLY do very well, because the learning system in this country is a joke.
Thus, it is VERY EASY for the immigrants to obtain good grades because where they come from they have to study really hard to pass. They learn very quickly the basic english and do very well, much better than you.
Besides, California was part of Mexico until the USA stole it in a war . So, they are in their own country, what's the problem ?
If you think that way, go to England, because in a few years the situation will be even better.
My personal advice: do not ask that kind of questions here. The only thing you achieve is showing your racism and your ignorance

Well, English is becoming Italy's 2nd language and a lot of people do not agree. I believe it's high time everyone can speak more than just one language, thus able to understand each other wherever they go or whatever they do, if you were in serious distress and the only people around that could help spoke only Spanish, or Italian, or Chinese, they would still help you. Globalization is here, accept it and grow up, do not assume the arrogance of the majority of English speaking people, remember that your ancestors were NOT native Americans and they did NOT all speak English, yet they mixed happily.

I think it's high time English speakers everywhere woke up to the fact that the whole world is not their birthright and they don't have an exclusive patent on international languages. I think its great that Spanish speaking immigrants to the USA refuse to forget their language and culture. Good on them. You clearly don't like that and I'm sure you're not the only one. Why don't you take Spanish lessons? Then you'll change your mind maybe. Life is twice as good with two languages.

Ya, I saw the Sunsilk thing, too. It kinda confused me at first. I do think that before coming to the USA people should be required to learn at least basic English. I'm not prejudice, far from it, but I think it would be alot easier on both parts. I work dispatch for a tow company and alot of times people can't find out where their car is because they don't understand me. That's just one instance, what happens when there is an emergency and they call 911? Poor people...=(

well i don't think it is becoming the second language, we just have to learn to share. i mean if we didn't allow any other language in our country, the foreign people would see a difficult time to understand many things. i have been out of the usa 2 times and in other countries i always seen "our" language english on their products and english was used just as much as the first language in those countries. sharing and understanding will make things better sweety.

This will just help you get an insight what the Native Indians felt like about their language, their house values, their world - being overtaken and run down by another race.

the answer is easy. if a country that speaks english is located in a continent full of spanish speaking persons, the math is easy to do. and about the shampoo, look at the section where it says where it has been made at, and if federally approved, then ask the government why he wants cheap labor in the first place taking the jobs away from you all, and how many mexicans came to america in the mayflower? and anyways, yo puedo hablar muy bien el espanol, anch'io posso parlare italiano, and can speak english too, so, who cares? you are the one who is missing something. hugs

English is Americas second language...after what the Native Indians were speaking....if we can ignore their language in favor of our own....then we shouldnt be too troubled if someone else does the same to us...spanish is cool anyway and it never hurts to know more than one language

I'm not really bothered by it...I look at it as a learning experience. We need to be more open minded and able to speak other languages and stuff, so I kind of look at it as a good thing.

I like the way in which Arizona is dealing with illegals. And I like the way in which Australia is dealing with their immigrants. Time to quit being politically right and catering to populations that do not deliver a crap approximately their host nation.
