Undoubtedly among the two metallurgical engg will have more scope with so many mega steel manufacturing units coming up.

Both are established branches of engineering and with the boom in construction all over the world including India, prospects will be good. Most of civil construction needs steel. And steel needs metallurgists. Electronic industry also needs many material scientists (who are like cousins of metallurgists).

Metallurgists also have opportunities in the piping and pressure vessel field (petroleum, natural gas etc.).
