I am beggining my freshman year at a state school and I am not sure what road to take. I am majoring in Graphic Design, however I am afraid that because I am not a good drawer that I will struggle. Is there any advice I can get? Should I intern?

There are tons of jobs out there for people who can't draw. Graphic Design is a pretty broad major and there are many careers that it is useful for. Many people who work in advertising (setting up ads) can't draw at all. If I were you I would definitely take some illustration classes as well as some freehand art classes. Once you have a good foundation and reference point to start from finding the fundamentals it's really not too difficult. If you are intent on Graphic Design, I would suggest also taking some communications classes relative to your field.

Well actually you would study design and media.

My area of education was teaching introductory courses for media students.

Some of them would go to study, wed design, graphic design, desktop publish, multimedia, 3D animation and so on.

The area is so wide that you will find there are many options that don't require create drawing, illustration skills.

Even design is based on fairly simple rules which you can learn in a few months. Take some photos, but them together in the right way, and you have achieved a good design.

Drawing skill is a great asset, However Artistic and Visual perception is a MUST. If you are not very strong in these areas. I would advise you do this course as a minor especially as how you are handicapped in your dexterity as regards art (sketching / Drawing / Painting)

You could go to a trade school, and take some drawing classes, or get some books, and teach yourself. Good drawing skills are going to be your foundation, which you need.
