You need to rub some corn syrup or other sugary substance on her gums to raise her blood sugar right away. And feed her anything to tempt her to eat. Hotdogs usually work. If a lactating dog looses too much calcium from not eating it will die. I think they use to call it milk fever? She has to eat.

Well Congrats.....
Okay, listen carefully. Make sure she has water....but don't panic. They usually do not eat the night or day before and won't get an appetite for a day or so. If you have nutri cal or some caro syrup, a drop or two would help. This will bring her sugar level up... this is why she is so down....
but having pups is tough....so give her some quiet time and let her take care of her babies. If she is still this way by tomorrow night, then think about getting her to a vet....Otherwise, if the pups are nursing and things are good there, leave her be. It sometimes takes 24-48 hours for her to really start producing milk. She won't starve herself and if she has cool water close she will drink it eventually. Her main goal is to take care of her pups..... Also, don't panic if she does not want to go outside to potty for 24 + hours....this is weird, but they usually wait awhile. Then you might just have to pick her up and take her out..
Good luck...email if other questions.

First chis sometimes do this.
It is best to take them all in to the vet and have them checked make sure everything is done and nothing is retained.
Have you tried to feed her right where she is some will not leave the pups.
she should have extra vitamins and nutrical to keep up her sugar as chis are known for sugar drops.
you can put a teaspoon of Karo syrup in her water 1 teaspoon to a pint of water.
you can give her puppy replacement if she needs more milk but 3 pups is an average litter.
Again a vet can tell you if they are getting enough and if he feels she is producing enough milk.

She's fine.

For the first few days, she will not leave the puppies whatsoever, and for the first month she will not leave for more than a few seconds in order to eat, drink, and go to the bathroom.

Three puppies is a good number for a chihuahua, because it is a smaller breed, but some dogs have had litters in the teens!

She is simply being a good mother, and you should not worry about her, unless it becomes weeks and she still does not eat or drink anything.

My chihuahua has done the same thing to me. This is gross but she is eating it. I put fresh raw beef in a blender with plenty of water and cooked rice and one egg. Warm it up so it is warm to touch and watch her eat it up. Mine won't drink water so this is sneaking water to her. Hurry though because if too much time lapses, she will "dry up" and you will have to feed the babies. Mine is finally happy and looking good. Oh, throw away or freeze the uneaten portion. Hope it helps. Bob

Feed her puppy food for the entire time she is nursing - it has more nutrients than adult food. You should also mix in some cooked rice to help her keep her weight on. You might have to add chicken broth to it to help entice her to eat it.
Good luck!
