hahaha...i suppose if that were actually true, then we would know the reason for the widespread mental retardation of christians...inbreeding...left in the shallow end of the gene pool...

Two part answer.
First Incest was declared a sin for the Israelite nation later in history. Abram(Abraham) actually married his half sister Sarai(Sarah). So there are exhamples of acceptable practices that might have been considered incest before God decreed it to be off limits.
Second, The bible only talks about the 3 sons, but the bible's genealogy tends to be a very male dominated genealogy. This does not mean that all the men slept with their mothers, simply that there were sisters that were not mentioned in the account. Cain for instance was banished from the area before he had his first child, which suggests that his wife(sister) must have gone with him when he was banished. God told Adam and Eve to "be fruitful and multiply." That means (to me) have a LOT more than just 3 kids.
Let me know if you'd like exact texts. Most are in Genesis, except for the ones in Leviticus and Deuteronomy talking about incest.

Yes unless Lilith had kids before she left? Then the it would be Adam's kids but not Eve's. Is that any better? Are step kids "KNOWING" each other still incest?
Later on in Genesis angels mate with mortal women.
Genesis 6:4
The Nephilim were on the earth in those days—and also afterward—when the sons of God went to the daughters of men and had children by them. They were the heroes of old, men of renown.
Maybe it happened earlier than thought. After all the Bible was written many years after the flood from oral traditions handed down for generations. I imagine a lot happened that the storytellers didn't mention in front of children and so got lost.

Incest became a taboo thing rather late in history. Remember Egyptian pharaohs used to marry their sisters.
Anyway our monkey ancestors were not reading the Bible. By the way even in the Bible it says explicitely that Lot had sex with his daughters. The prohibition came very late in the history of the Jewish people. And even at that the sinful aspect seems to be concerned with procreation not with sex as such. Claude.

No, you forget that revelation is progressive.
So, Adam and Eve procreated and created a multitude. Until the law defined incest as a sin, it was not sin.
Much in the same way, man could eat anything he wanted until God made certain choices sinful (and eventually all food became edible - again progressive).
Much of the OT is defined specifically for national Israel, which doesn't exist in the biblical context. Revelation progresses until we have what is in effect today ... the church age.

This first story of the Bible should make you understand the real code to read it. Every story 'must' transmit a 'moral', not the form of saying it. Adam and Eve are the examples to say us the first relations between men and women, so, among humanity growing up. As always, we must read to understand the contents. It's like reading a fairy tale, the important isn't what it tells but what it's its meaning.

Actually eve had daughters as well. But then they vould have invested (i mean incested) to produce more off spring, right? Maybe incest wasn't a sin, then?

Some bible scholars believe that Adam and Eve were created on the 8th day, since their story comes after the 7th day when God rested. As you see on the 6th day man was created.
Nowhere in the bible does it claim that Adam and Eve were the first humans on the planet. Their kids mated with the humans who were created on the 6th day.

Just because it's not written in the book, God found a way to make sure everyone had a "legitimate" partner. Men aren't good at details and edting the first time through, you gotta read between the lines and accept things the way they would have. C'mon, be a team player and believe like you're supposed to....
