My husband's family is having a reunion in 3 wks. Over the last 20 years my husband has been disabled and unable to work. I have worked two jobs and established a nice home for us. This does not leave much for extras. In that time his family did nothing to support us, some of them not even a phone call or a "can we help." I want to take him back to see his roots but costs are exhorbitant. I feel so guilty by not going and yet recognize that we have been "abandoned" for a long time by these people with the exception of two sister in laws (married to his brothers) who keep in touch. Should we go and see his family one last time or stay home and save for a cruise of something we would both enjoy. I feel like a B****. Help me....please.aaaaagggghhhh

First of all, I am so sorry about your husband's disability. You are so loyal and faithful; I am sure he loves and appreciates you so much.

How about asking him what he would really like to do? If he wants to go see his family, do it for him. If he doesn't really care about going, then save for a vacation for the two of you and tell his family that you are unable to handle the expense of going to the reunion.

Go on the cruise, they don't seem like the kind of family that will notice his absents.
