Many use the NT as their law book...unless they find something in the OT they like. Then they come up with all kinds of excuses for why THIS OT law should be obeyed but THAT OT law shouldn't.

Exodus was a book commanded to the nation of Israel. God chose a specific people unto Himself to reveal the law, the Hebrews. In the plan of historic redemption, the Hebrews proved that no people could keep the law, and that a perfect law keeper was required. This perfect lawkeeper was fulfilled in Jesus Christ. When the church age was inaugurated, the 1st and 2nd uses of the law were allowed to expire. the law has 3 uses:

1. Civil - National Israel's laws to keep the peace and restrain evil.
2. Ceremonial - the temple and sacrificial system
3. Moral - still in effect, and why the 10 commandments still matter.

So, while we do not adhere to national Israel's mandates in the civil and ceremonial era, which were fulfilled in Christ; we still do believe lying, adultery and murder are wrong.

That was before the 10 Comandments were introduced. In the 10 Comandments, it says "Thou shalt not kill". And witches are sent to hell, anyway, so they get what they deserve. Only God can pass judgement.

Ok,
first tell me why do we say "OLD testament" and NEW Testament.

The Book of Exodus as you well know is part of the Old Testament and has no connection with the real teaching of God thru' Christ.

Like some psalms, say let a curse fall upon your enemy.
Does Jesus say that?????

No, rather he says, "love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you."

Whenever the Jews, Pharisees, etc. tried to trap him, to raise an accusation, they asked all these old laws, referred to as the Laws of Moses.

And JEsus gives a practical sight to it, truly expressing that God is Love.

We are in this new world, the new Testament.

The old testament has things of the old.
By Jesus, dying on the cross, he has forgiven us, and increased the mercy of god, rather made his mercy endless and his treasury of compassion inexhaustible.

The old testament was all before, god's only son, could shed his blood for us,

but with Jesus' great sacrifice, we are all cleansed, and called to live a new life!

Read Matthew 5 onwards, preferably 5 and 6.

Ask any more questions if needed.

Could be they've developed past a literal belief in the Bible, seeing those dated passages for appropriate for another time and place.

Didn't you notice? Where have you been for the last few centuries?

You REALLY haven't been paying attention, have you?

Silly. Atheists (I mean the educated ones), does this nonsense speak for you? Gods, I hope not.

I'm not religious, but I hate such nonsense thinking.

You'll get a lot of Christians that say the New Testament is where they get the rules. But then they go on to explain the Ten Commandments.

Really, it doesn't make much sense to me either. They only listen to the parts that they want to.

These questions are absolutely boring as they've been answered a million times. The real question should be, when are witches going to lie again to have Christians hanged like they did in Salem, Massachussetts in 1722? 23 innocent Christians hung till dead because of the words of two whacked out teenage girls, and a Jamaican housemaid who started the whole thing. Wow.

That phrase is a mistranslation. But to answer the question, I'm fairly certain that the Christian God has something to say about killing innocents.

Because its old law not Jesus's Law. There were many many misinformed and ignorant people in those days.

And the book youre quoting from is Deut, not Exodus...

Old Testament Law was anulled when Jesus came.

Read the entire book, footnotes, and other books that are recommended and you will find out why.
Read the entire book a couple of times and you will be amazed at some stuff you missed the first time. I read it several times and it never ceased to amaze me. I find it fascinating on occasion still.

Enjoy!
