Definitely c!
That is a great suggestion! You are not only not putting your friend down, but are helping them feel better about themselves, by doing something positive. And you're not lying, which is also really important.

If it is your friend you will curve the urge to say something right away. Ask her how she has been doing lately, and tell her she looks great. When the time is right mention that you have joined or are interested in joining some aerobics classes, ask her to join you for a bike ride, walk or swim. It wont be as hurtful to mention that way, and you may not have to mention it at all. She may need someone to just help her motivate, and you will be giving her the opprotunity, and saving her dignity while your at it.

I think I'd say C because, first of all you never tell a girl straight up that she's gained weight or you think she's fat and secondly she might feel strongly about the situation and knows she gained weight and if you say something like phrase b then she'll know you're talking a load of s**t. Use your brain on this one.

c - I know the feeling....
your being honest and you are being productive in your response. Follow through and you both will be looking great. I personally should probably look into kickboxing. I'd like to loose about 10 lbs.

I would rather go with (B) and leave it at that but if you are a true friend,I must say (C) is the way to go. You could just say "well I know I could use some exercise myself lets go together , we'll make it our night out." This way she doesn't take it as if you just basically called her fat and she knows you want to hang out as friends more often. Thanks a lot!! Now I have to go take my own advice!! HAHA

e. What do the scales say? This puts the onus on her. She knows that she has gained some weight and is either asking people to say it doesn't show or that she looks better with a little more weight.

if you're a really good friend then "c" might be the best choice. you're not coming right out and saying she's gained weight and you're also encouraging her to exercise at the same time.
i wouldn't feel bad if one of my friends made that comment to me after telling him/her i felt fat. the first comment would upset me big time and i would later feel angry about the second one b/c i would feel like my friend wasn't being honest with me

between (a) and (c). saying (b) would be lieing to them, and they can tell easily. plus, if you lie to them, they'll more likely continue putting on more weight. i think it's easier telling them (a) because even though you are agreeing with them, you can always say that they look better and that opens up the thought of doing something about it, and it's easier saying (c) because even though you're saying something should be done about it, you're also lending a helping hand

Definitely not A. B would be a blatant lie although that may be what she wants to hear, it's kind of like false hope. I would just say Oh stop!
