Cardio, cardio, cardio. A good condition makes boxing easier and will complement your skills. So running will help. How many miles depends on your age and you should try to run 3/4 times a week.
Depending on your age and physical preferences, lifting weights can enhance your strong points whether it'd be hitting hard or fast. Having the right diet is also important. Just as important as taking your rest when you're training. The best way to get in shape is train, eat and sleep in the right amounts.

Yes, definitely. A boxer's training regimen is one of the most rigorous and most disciplined in all of sports that you'll definitely get in shape in no time at all. It builds up your stamina, develops cardiovascular and muscular endurance, agility, speed, eye and hand coordination, footwork and almost every facet of your physical fitness. And don't forget, it's also a martial art which is very useful for self-defense so you're actually hitting 2 birds with 1 stone.

Aerobic exercises are best for getting in boxing shape. Stretching also is good for boxing. Although I do not suggest weights because it tightens u up and u need to be loose in boxing to extend your reach.
