some of us can!
but sometimes we can't because
christians want us to think jesus is God and died for our sins (others think we are all terrorists)
as for muslims, we want christians to admit the bible has changed and to at least try to look outside themselves for a moment...and to put God (the one and only, undivided) first
it's a simplistic answer but i think it touches the heart of the matter

Because both religions are fundamentally the same, and yet directly conflicting. According to both the Bible and the Quar'an, only one can possibly be "true" (I obviously favor the third option...neither). It's the Exclusivity Doctrine that gets in everyone's way: The notion that "I am right therefore everyone else MUST be wrong." It's that attitude that gets Chrisitians calling Islam "Satanic" and vise-versa.
What astonishes me is that in the Middle East, for some reason the fanatical, rabidly unreasonable fringe groups have become frighteningly dominant...and the moderate and liberal versions of the faith don't openly stand up against them. While here in the West, the rabid fringe is usually marginalized and left to rant to itself...until they find a cause that they think will carry them into the mainstream.
Like war.

Because there are extremists on both ends causing tensions with their hateful ways. Before I became a minister I worked for and became very close with a Muslim family. This was long before the wars and he and I would talk about religion a lot.
He taught me about how peaceful their religion really is and if I didn’t have Christ in my life I would be praising Allah right now.
You see when we see the things going on in places and were told they are Muslims we are slightly misinformed. Because some of these Muslim groups are as Muslim as David Koresh or Jimmy Jones was Christian.
There are Cults of Muslims like there are cults of Christians. And we are at times pulled into the fray through media and political brouhaha.
All the Muslims I know personally support our mission in the Middle East and are a very peaceful people. They preach love, respect and unity. In fact I think many religious people could learn a lot from them.

I think they can if both respect the other's right to their own beliefs and dont try to convince the other person that they are wrong. A person's religious beliefs should not be judged by anyone as God did not give us the right to judge. My fiance is muslim and I am christian. We both respect each other's religious beliefs and have not and will not try to change them. He has asked me to read the quran, which I had already started to do so I could understand his beliefs, but he does not expect me to change my beliefs. All that we ask of each other is to try to understand our beliefs and respect them. I think it is more difficult for me because I believe Christ is the Son of God and only by accepting him as our Lord and Savior can we go to heaven when we die. It saddens me to think that my fiance might not be in heaven with me. However, I have recently begun to wonder about this because I dont believe that anyone who does not know that Christ is the Son of God is doomed to an eternity in hell. Since he has had his religious beliefs since birth and been taught that Jesus was only a prophet I feel this falls in that category of not knowing. It's not that he chooses not to believe it, but that it goes against everything his religion teaches him.

Because Christians believe Jesus Christ is God.
Muslims believe Jesus Christ was a human prophet.
Therein lies the conflict.
h20andspirit - Moslem is actually the older way of spelling Muslim. It's not incorrect, just out of date.

The faiths are fundamentally incompatable. However Christian and Muslim individuals do get along and live side by side despite what the media trys to force feed you.

I have no problems with Christians. They have their faith I have mine.So what's the problem. They say they are right.I said I am right.Anyone who wants to know about the Muslims faith I tell them what I know.No compulsion. Then no problem.Don't force on another directly or indirectly .It's useless. That's not the way to true faith.

I think we could get along if the radical Muslims that claim they're following the Quaran would wisen up. True Muslims want peace just as much as true Christians.
