The Judge will not accept your loss as an excuse. In fact he'll probably give you a lecture on endangering other lives.

You can explain what happened and you can ask that they not revoke your license. I forget what the term is but you can be put on "probation" where if you mess up again in 6 months they will stick it to you HARD. Or, you can just take the punishment which won't be very much if they still let you drive home after the ticket. Where I live if you go over 100 mph you get arrested, license suspended, and car towed.

First, you have my sympathies for your loss. I can remember a similar situation where I was rather wreckless and haphazard following my Dad's death so I understand your situation. Unfortunately, I would plead "no contest" because your actions could have made things a lot worse for your loved ones if you, too, became a victim, or if someone else suffered from your driving. You could tell the judge the circumstances and rely on their mercy, and perhaps get a reduced penalty. Pleading "no contest" means that you admit to the charges, but you would most likely be in line for a compromise settlement with the court. Good luck.

go up there and show remorse and apology for doing what you did. Explain the situation. I understand that you had a really tough day and lost a close one. But, if your going 105 in a 55 you are endangering and putting innocent bystandards at risk.

You don't have options, go to court, explain and see what the judge gives you. I understand you were hurt, but you need to be able to control this, you could have just as easily killed another person, and taken someone special away from another person and caused them to suffer the pain you were. I'm not flaming you I just saying. My condolences to you and good luck.

Bring proof of your grandfather's death that night.

"Your honor, briefly, I'd like to plead guilty with extenuating circumstances. The document here shows the circumstances of that night. I am 100% responsible for speeding that night. The fine will be a hardship, but I am responsible for paying for it. I'm not asking for leniency, just guidance as to how I can pay the fine and what options I have for paying for what I did. Your advice or a pointer to someone who can help me would be greatly appreciated. I have one other ticket, the data on that is here, otherwise my record is clear."

Anything else is going to cost you more.

Just explain it as you did to us. You were upset, you knew you were wrong, and hope the judge isn't a real hardass.
on PA, this would be 5 points and a hearing.
Good luck.,

Not a great problem. Just keep your mouth shut and take what they give you. In future, try to do better before you kill someone.
