These guys had similar styles and it would've been an interesting fight. 15 rounds, in their primes.

Depends on when the fight happens. Before 1979, I would take Young, after 1979, I think Tillis wins.People forget that Tillis, despite his losses, was a very talented boxer who probably didn't do enough of the right things to be champion.
Prime for Prime, Young may edge Tillis, but it's not like he's heads and shoulders above him.

Tillis doesn't get much respect, even among the heavyweights of his day. James was what was called a stepping stone to bigger fights and Mike Weaver, Pinklon Thomas, Greg Page, Tim Witherspoon, Carl "the Truth" Williams, Marvis Frazier, Gerry Coetzee, Tryell Biggs, Mike Tyson, Evander Holyfield, Frank Bruno and Tommy Morrison all stepped on him.

Jimmy Young would have "Quickly" beat Tillis as well.

Jimmy Young. Tillis was never any good after he lost to Mike Weaver. Young was one of the slickest counter punching heavies I've ever seen.

Jimmy Young. He was the fastest heavyweight I ever saw! No power though. Nothing ever impressed me about Tillis. He was interchangable with the other mediocre fighters of his time: Pinklon Thomas, Witherspoon, the two Tonys, Bonecrusher Smith, etc. They all sucked.

you would be able to play a football game in between these two. it would be a boring fight but young by decision.
